Very painful ovulation

Hi all

I have been on the depo injection for around 9 years and decided last November I would take a break from contraception. When I was on the depo I had no periods or any kind of menses, periods returned about 3 months ago which I’m happy about.

However when I’ve been ovulation the pain that comes with it is excruciating, I’m talking doubled over in pain can’t do anything kind of pain. Due to COVID I’ve not been able to visit a doc, my periods aren’t that painful just some mild cramps however the ovulation pain is unbearable. I’m wondering if anyone else only has painful ovulation as a symptom?

I’ve been reading online but not much is coming up.

Thank you and I hope you’re all well

I get it too, usually a few days after my period the pain starts to crescendo until the big day. It bothers my bowel movements, I can literally feel food stuck on right hand side, and then constipation leads to issues urinating, never fully empty. It's a vicious. I think following a fodmap diet during this time is key to reducing inflammation.

I have my lap on Monday (fingerscrossed) nhs but its moved to private hospital due to covid. I'm hoping for some answers and relief.

I feel physically nauseous on the days before ovulating and the pain gets pretty nasty at times. As soon as I’ve ovulated the pain goes!

I read that painful ovulation can sometimes be a histamine response so I’ve recently reduced my intake of fermented foods (which I was eating a lot of) and I have to say I think that’s made a difference for me.

I hope you find what works for you xx

Yes my ovulation was always much more painful & longer lasting than period probably about 10 days, I had to start taking much stronger painkillers, like tramadol, pregabolin & Orimorph when nothing was touching also along with paracetamol which works well alongside morphine & tramadol plus ibuprofen, then started trying reflexology & reiki just before both painful times of the month & that really did help 👍

Welcome to my world, I have had extremely painful ovulation pain since the birth of my son 17 years ago the pain lasts 10 days each month. I am currently on Depo Provera have been for the past 2 years and I have even been having this pain whilst on the depo it happens every few months and the pain lasts 10 days as does without the depo. I was even out on Zoladex earlier this year but as soon I stopped it within 4 weeks I have had a massive ovulation flare up. My GP doesn’t know what to do and the gynaecologist I spoke to back in April wasn’t much help apart from offering Zoladex and a hysterectomy.
