Hi everyone, I had a hysterectomy over a year ago and have bee great . It should have been a surgery that removed my ovaries too as that was what was causing the problems. I’ve been having back and stomach pain for a few weeks now and all tests were clear so I went for an ultrasound to see if it was kidney stones. She asks if I still had my ovary as I have a cyst the size of a satsuma where it would be! I’m in total shock! Can this really happen? I definitely asked for them to be removed and to be honest I feel really crappy now at least I know where the pain is coming from. But to be told my ovary that’s caused me all the pain might still be there is awful...
I have to wait now to see my dr so she can look at the results and compare to my surgery notes...
So upset right now

There is something called ovary remnant syndrome. Which is where a small amount of ovary cells are left during removal and it can turn into cysts etc.
So the ovary could have been removed but a small amount of the cells were accidentally left. Maybe have a look into this. And if you think somehow your ovary may still be there ask for your medical records.
Had my lap today and they found a mass which seems to be ovarian . He is as shocked as I am as he said all my scans and reports after the hysterectomy were clear and showed nothing but the cyst. But there it was, he is pretty sure he got it all so now it’s recovery time and wait to see what the testing on it says. There’s a chance it may not be ovary but will find out I. A few weeks or so, if it is ovary I think I will put in a formal complaint. I went though all this surgery for a remnant to be left behind and I’m now in hospital again having yet more time off work and it is mentally and physically exhausting xx
