Constant period cramps daily on norethisterone with spotting!

Think I'm going to end norethisterone at end of this week due to the cramps and spotting I cant deal with this anymore daily 7 months now on them nothing but shit side effects esp cramps and spotting my gyne can seriously F.O I dunno how most you ladies can take norethisterone for 2 years straight or more this is agony

hello I am very sorry to hear about your agony. I started taking norethisterone about 2 weeks ago and I am already having pretty bad side effects primarily gas and bloating, hot flushes etc. What dose are you on? I am currently taking (5mg x 6 tablets a day) to stop my periods given I have thoracic endo and have had two lung collapses and surgeries on my lung and diaphragm recently. My next period is due next week but I hope I don't start bleeding hence I wanted to know your dosage. Are you on norethisterone to stop your periods completely as well? If so you can consider alternatives such as Zoladex after speaking to your GP/gynecologist. I haven't taken Zoladex yet.

I take 3 tablets 3 times a day to stop my periods I've been on norethisterone straight for 7 months now no breaks yes its stopped my periods but I'm having issues so much now esp with spotting and breakthrough bleeding on and off most days to daily it's so irritating to say the least but I also have bloat slot daily after eating small child size meals its ridiculous and the water retention is awful too but I've bought a cross trainer to try and shift some the weight I've gained even though idk how that has happened as I struggle daily to eat much! Honestly though 7 months is long term and yes I'm doing norethisterone due to very heavy periods and dont want them anymore but the nasty side effects esp the bleeding/spotting is very uncharted and happens when ever it wants it's horrible but I'm so scared to end the medication due to the heavy bleeding it s going to do but what confuses me is how most women are on norethisterone for years and had no issues like HOW? cause with the spotting I'm having shouldn't be happening and I feel like upping the dose cause of it

Hi thanks for your response. I hope your side effects improve soon. I am switching to zoladex from next month although not sure how my body will cope with this new Med. Perhaps you can talk to your doctor to see if there are any other alternative meds to stop your periods? I hope you find some relief soon. I can relate to your dilemma. I have also had very heavy and long periods and used to take mefanemic acid which worked well for me particularly for the pain and cramping.

I'm not getting periods I'm getting spotting but the spotting can be bad at times and can last for few days at a time also like now its 5:30am and no indication at all I found pink and red blood after wiping 😑 I've had 6 days of no spotting or out till this morning!!! I thought norethisterone is supposed to stop all bleeding 🤔 in this case I'm going to try asking to increase the dose or summit as bleeding shouldn't be occurring or spotting whiles on this med

I am taking double the normal dose of norethisterone. My period is due next week but I’ll let you know if this high dosage has worked. my gynaecologist was quite confident that the double dose should stop my periods. I hope it works otherwise I’ll be in trouble from my lung perspective.

Omgosh i can really relate. My gp made me switch on this 2 month ago and really messed me up... spotting continously, 3 weeks period and then all of this nonsense cramps and ovulation pain since. She really messed me up and she aint even a gynae specialist. I stopped completely on my own decision.

I am back on Noriday which I take every day and now thankfully I'm starting to get back to normal without the spotting thank god.

I've literally been woken by very Sharpe cramps esp in my left ovary and spotting is still there sometimes less then sometime abit more then normal but not enough to consider wearing a pad but it's so frustrating it's like 6 days no spotting etc then since yesterday spotting off and on 🙄😑 so much to norethisterone working but it is stopping my periods but I think my uterus lining is thick hense the reason why it breaks away every couple days as it cant get too thick no idea 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ but it's really stressful by now you would think 7 months is a long time and things should be settling down ( spotting etc ) but when i first started this again last nov i was fine no spotting no nothing till March came along this year and everything just changed 😑😔 spotting happened, heavy cramps daily, bloating after eat meal and that's talking child size meal , water retention, puffiness, etc etc but no period since nov just really intense cramps with spotting and sometime spotting happens uncharted too

it is annoying I word pads as I wasn't sure when it will stop. Clearly Its not for us.☹

Spotting only comes every few days with me sometimes daily but it's not heavy spotting to wear a pad tbh with you but it is a bastard so uncharted waters now

I preferred to wear a panty liner so I can easily change than stand up with a stain.. I have stopped now.. back on noriday.

Having abit more spotting this morning just came without notice but it abit more then normal but no clots or out just pink blood with tiny red dots ughhh might just end the pills if it dont stop spotting by later on fed up of it happening now so
