Did they tell you that you can't get pregnant on norethisterone? It acts like a contraceptive, so the chances of you getting pregnant whilst on it next to none.

From my own experience I was on 5mg x3 daily norethisterone for 9 months straight, and it was great for stopping my periods but in my case it did nothing to halt the endometriosis internally so I had to have a lap to excise everything and then come off it straight away. I've been trying to get pregnant ever since naturally and with a fertility med called clomid but it hasn't worked. It's been 15 months.

I also have blocked tubes and my specialist has advised that IVF is the best route for blocked tubes, even if you're doing everything else right if the sperm can't go up the tubes then it just can't physically happen.

If you want to try to get pregnant naturally you will have to speak to your doctor about coming off the norethisterone as its not safe to TTC while on it. The only issue with that is obviously you will have to have periods again in order to TTC and that poses the risk of endo symptoms returning for you. It sucks! :( but seek advice from whoever is in charge of your endo they will be able to guide you to the best treatment whether that be TTC naturally or with fertility assistance. Good luck xxx

I have been told by my surgeon and all docs and the leaflet that it isnt a contraceptive tho :/

If you were taking it to delay a period for a few days then it won't have any contraceptive effect, but I'm assuming you're on it long term, which means you haven't had a period in a while and therefore your reproductive organs have halted and you haven't been through the phases of a menstrual cycle which make pregnancy possible. For implantation to occur you need a uterine lining of around 7mm or more I believe. Being on long term progesterone treatment (such as norethisterone) causes the lining to become thin for the duration of treatment and therefore not viable for pregnancy. You ARE supposed to use another form of contraception whilst on norethisterone becahse if you did happen to get pregnant whilst taking it then you're putting your embryo at huge risk. That's why you're supposed to use contraception whilst on it to avoid pregnancy. If you want to TTC you would have to come off it and have a regular menstrual cycle so that you can ovulate and develop a thick uterine lining so that implantation may occur. (From my understanding anyway)

I am trying to concieve hence why im asking but taking norethisterone helps with my condition and there isnt anything else that seems to help but i just wanted to know if it was possible as i was told that it wasnt a form of contraception and i am not taking it 3x just 1x a day sometimes i dont take it atall for a few days :/

Do you have periods at all whilst on norethisterone? I'm just curious to see how you wouldn't have any breakthrough bleeding if you go days without taking it. Not trying to sound insensitive to the situation I just know from the info leaflet included in the packaging that it says it's not suitable to take if pregnant or breastfeeding. I would really recommend speaking to your GP about this though and as you have mentioned your tubes are blocked and aren't falling pregnant within a yeaR, there are other options and tests you can have before even considering IVF.

I cant have ivf as i dont fall within the catagory of nhs but no i dont have breakthrough bleeding at all :/

Hi ladies, slightly long shot but have a look into a natural enzyme called serrapeptase- there a fair few stories from women who's scar tissues and blockages in tubes has significantly improved and in some cases gone since taking. It's natural and made from I believe the gut of silk worms -bizarre I know. But it's natural so if you're comfortable giving it a go you might have some success. I took it for 2 months prior to starting Prostap and not sure if it was a coincidence but I had my least painful period I had experienced in years (I have Endo and suspected Adeno hence trying it).

A Friend takes it for digestive issues and bless him he said when researching it he read lots about Gyne and fertility benefits which is how I heard of it. Just thought I'd mention as you never know.

All the best x
