Hello Ladies,

Hope you are all well. I've got a question hopefully someone can help me. I've got Endometriosis, I started my period in sunday yesterday I passed a clot the size of my first. My gp says its normal as I have Endometriosis. 7PM tonight I sat on the toilet it's now 7.37pm I'm still sat on the toilet. As I'm passing medium size clots constantly dripping blood. I have been anemic not so long ago. Will this make my iron drop again.

The question is.. Is all this normal with having Endometriosis. I cant panic myself as I have high blood pressure. I don't want to go to A&E with this pandemic been on. The NHS have enough on there hands. Then I dont want to look stupid go to hospital and the bleeding/clots stop. Then l look like a right plank. Also is it worth having a hysterectomy for Endometriosis. I've read a lot of conflicting stories. 🙂 I've sent a picture of my fur babies. These two boys help keep me calm.

Please can someone help.

Thank you

Sam

Good evening

Beautiful cats 🐾

Yes I get clots all the time that vary in size and been told this is normal unfortunately. I have endometriosis and adenomyosis.

If you are concerned I would phone your GP. Like you I wouldn’t want to go near a hospital at the moment because of Covid x

Hi Sam

I had heavy bleeding and massive clots with endo. This did make severely anaemic so it could make your iron levels drop again. I would get this checked if you are feeling fatigued all the time. Or you could just take an iron supplement. Look for Ferrous Fumarate. This is less likely to cause constipation or irritate your bowel.

Hope you get sorted xx

Hi Sam38,

Clots are common with endometriosis, however you should monitor how frequently you are experiencing them and if you deem it to be excessive I would definitely advise calling your GP.

As a method of management, if you are not already using hormonal treatment you could consider that? I have provided a link below to a page on our website that contains information on different hormonal treatments and their effects.
