Pain at certain times?

Hi :)

I’m wondering if anyone else gets pain at the same times each day?

I seem to wake up between 1-2am every night without fail with stomach/back/hip/leg aches. These usually last around 4 hours, sometimes they go quicker if I take nurofen, other times it doesn’t work at all. I then go back to sleep and I’m fine when I wake up until early/mid afternoon when round 2 begins. Again, lasting approx 4 hours and I’m then alright in the evening.

I have to admit, the pain can be intense but often it’s relatively mild, which I am grateful for, but it’s still enough to keep me awake at night and unable to concentrate/do much during the day.

I find the relentlessness of it psychically and mentally draining.

I haven’t heard of similar experiences so would be interested to know if anyone else suffers this way.

Thank you

Hi there, is it possible you have arthritis? I have a dodgy back and hip and used to wake every night with pain. I try not to take painkillers now as bad for fertility what helps me immensely is memory foam mattress land putting a pillow in between my knees when I go to sleep. I have changed what type of pillow I use to a firm smaller one As keeping straight and aligned can really help. Even better is a hot bath before bed. Sounds very sore and tiring. Good luck!!

Not that I’m aware of and I don’t have any other symptoms that would suggest so. I try not to take painkillers too, it feels wrong doing it every day! If this continues I will definitely look into a memory foam mattress and a bath before bed is a good idea. Thank you xx

I wake up most nights Dr prescribed me amitriptyline for bed and it seemed to have done the trick I take two on a night as 1 didn't work and my GP agreed I was like you woke up near enough at the same time every night, it's soooo tiring and you can't function in the day when your sleep is broken, plus it was really getting me down, I get the worsed pains in a morning now then a milder pain through the day that my painkillers almost take off, hope this helps xx

Sorry that you’re going through this too but glad you’ve found something that works for you! I’ve been trying to only take painkillers when I really have to but it’s hard to avoid them. I started the combined pill a week ago so praying that also helps. Thank you xx

Hi I have a routine to my pain. Have done for 8 years now. Pain starts at around 10-11pm I take painkillers but they wear off and pain still then again at 2.30am pain will naturally stop at 4.30am and then start up again at 6am until 11am then it will stop until 4.30pm. Afternoon pain is 4.30pm to 6-7pm and then it starts again at 10-11pm. It's a daily cycle of pain the only variation is the intensity is worse during period where on day 1 the pain is constant with no breaks and the same for 2 days around ovulation when it is constant, otherwise its the same routine everyday. It's really hard and exhausting as it interrupts sleep. I keep most of my pain relief for the night to try and help but as time has gone by the pain has become more difficult to handle. I now nap in 2.5 hr slots. It something my body has naturally started to do due to sleep deprivation. Its allows me to sleep and power nap during the day and evening as I know I cant sleep at night. Difficult whilst working but I tend to sleep more at weekends to recover. I have never had any advice on why there is a pattern . I think it's my natural rhythm of estrogen release throughout the day and where the peaks and troughs are dictate when I'm in pain but this theory has not been tested. Try to rest when you can, taking extra naps whenever and wherever you can. Stay well, and take care 🙂

It’s so bizarre - would love to know why it happens this way! So sorry that you’ve had this for 8 years, I can only begin to imagine how draining that must be. I’ve luckily only recently started to have symptoms as I was on the pill for ten years which I think masked it. Last month from day 1-19 of my cycle I was in pain and then I had 13 days free of it and I’m now on day 18 so really hoping it goes soon! I started back on the pill last week to try and help so fingers crossed. Thank you for the advice, take care xx

Hey, for the last few months I wake up in early hours of the morning (around 3am usually) with pelvic pain (sometimes mild and sometimes severe). I take tramadol with paracetamol at around 10pm and then set an alarm for 2am to take another dose to try and sleep through pain or atleast make it bearable. I also have oral morphine for breakthrough pain when it is really severe.

I'm currently waiting to see if I can have Zoladex injections to see if that helps with pain but everything is in hold at the moment due to the coronavirus so managing as best as I can.

Hope you are managing best as u can also xx

Thank you! It’s so rubbish having to rely on painkillers to function like a normal human. I really hope you get the injections soon and that they help xx
