Persistent extreme fatigue months after surgery

Hi all,

I have posted a few times about this already but thought I’d try again in case someone believes they know the cause.

Coming up six months ago I had a laparotomy to remove an ovary, Fallopian tube, cyst and appendix and since then I have been extremely tired and my energy levels are not seeming to get better - I lost a lot of blood so thought maybe the tiredness was due to being anemic but my red blood cells have now caught up so it can’t be that. I have also been diagnosed with potential kidney stones (I had a kidney infection but the antibiotics did not get rid of the pain and it actually started to worsen) and on Monday I will get that confirmed for me - I had a uti for a long tine do think that is what has caused it so I don’t think that could be causing it. However I thought I’d mention both things if there possibly could be a link between them and the fatigue?

I’d be interested to hear if anyone else had any similar experiences or believe that they know the cause?

Thanks,

Sophie

I had a laparotomy in Dec 2017 and it took me a solid year before I felt like my energy was more or less back to normal. It is major surgery. It just takes a long time for your body to repair itself and recover!

I had a similar experience after my lap in August 19. I suffered from fatigue for months, bearly able to get out of bed in the morning, flat not hovered for weeks, I wasted hundred of hours on my sofa watching Netflix.

Eventually gave up to sort it out on my own and took antidepressants for a few months. They helped with the lack of energy, motivation and slightly low mood. Without them it was like a vicious circle for me. I knew I should have been more active to feel better and have more energy but was not able to do anything due to lack of energy

It sounds to me like your body has been through so much. I would guess your fatigue is a result of the op but also everything else going on in your body.
