Just wanting to ask who you had your first follow up with? I have mine on Thursday (6 weeks to the day since my lap/excision surgery) but it’s with my GP. Is this the norm? I have a follow up at the hospital in June (which will be 6 months post surgery).
Are there any particular questions to ask that I might not be obvious to me at the moment? I think this have been going well overall, except for the crippling pain which has meant I’ve missed many days of work though I’ve put it down to my coil/cycle... who knows.
Thank you!

That’s really strange. It should be with the consultant as they can answer the questions from the surgery. The GP can only go off the findings sent out to them. I’ve always had mine with consultant In hospital. I’d give your consultant an email asking why it’s with your GP.
From other people’s posts I thought it was odd too! I thought it might be protocol as that’s what I was told when I left the ward and it’s on my discharge notes too, but the doctor had said I’d see him in 3-4 months. I figure the 6 months is probably him being under strain as he’s quite popular from what I’ve noticed... I think I’ll contact them and see if I can go any earlier but keep my GP appt as nobody even showed me how to check if my coil is in place! Can I ask how many post op appointments you had? I thought if it’s just one appointment then it was best to wait til the June slot so I could have a clearer picture of what my new “normal” is
I’ve had 3 laps and with all of them I seen my consultant 6-9 weeks post op but I never had any discharge notes given to me. He would tell me where the endo was found and show me the pictures etc. Maybe it’s just different ways of doing things in different areas. I’m from Swansea in Wales. With the coil you should be checking it by feeling the strings. I would normally check mine every week when in the shower. I had mine years ago but had it out after a year.
It’s normal for your consultant to see you in 6 months as that way they can ask how your symptoms have been since excision so they know if you need further treatment like hormones. You will get a letter either through the post or from your gp with the notes from your surgery x
Thank you! Thankfully I was given a copy of what happened during excision as it turns out my GP never received it/haven’t got it on record despite taking it in to be scanned twice... is it normal to not see the consultant in the time between surgery and 6 month mark to have a check in/confirm all is going well?
I didnt see anyone until 6 months post op to see if treatment had worked. I think this is quite normal. 6 weeks with gp will probbaly be to check there are no problems x
That’s exactly what ended up happening, she checked to see if my coil was in the right place and I was sent in my way. Can’t wait to get to the 6 month mark to find my new normal xx
