Follow up after Lap?

Hey everyone I was just wondering if anyone had a follow up after a laparoscopy. It's been 2 weeks post op and I Ended up calling nhs 24 today with an infection in the wounds a bladder infection, and stitches still in (I was told they were dissolvable). The nurse at NHS out of hours was gobsmacked that I hadn't received a follow up appointment, as this all could have been avoided or at least checked earlier. Has any one else had something similar happen? I need to call my gp tomorrow for them to make an urgent referral back to gynae triage.

I have had 4 laps and none have had a follow up until at least 6 weeks. However I had an infection and issue with bladder after one and rang the hospital direct and was rushed in to see my specialist that day!!! Try ringing them directly x

I may just do that. It's more because I genuinely don't want to take any more time off work. It's just issue after issue! Thank you x

I've had three or four laps and only one had a post op, the last lap my GP sent off to be seen as he thinks it's daft I didn't get one.... 6 months later, still waiting.

It is dumb why some don't get post ops, I was done privately under NHS with the bsge clinic so I was assuming better info about my endo but, nope.

I wasn’t given a follow up either, and wasn’t actually given much info from the nurse about my stitches. I ended up with a wound infection and bladder infection but both were just treated by my gp. She was also the one to tell me that although the stitches are dissolvable and people say they should be gone within a couple of weeks, it quite often can take up to 4-5 weeks for them to dissolve fully and that’s nothing to worry about. Mine took about 4 weeks x

I was told I needed a follow up. It simply to review my symptoms, I had endo treated and doctor said if my pain was no better I would benefit from treatment for adeno.

As far as the stitches go, mine were dissolvable, they say two weeks for this to happen but actually mine took about 6 to totally go.

You need to make sure you are keeping your wounds clean, but don’t go poking about or pulling at the stitches.

I actually put a little salt in my bath water once I could bath as apprised to showering.

I hope you can get to see someone, bit I don’t think it is unusual to not have a follow up.

Never got a follow up, never even got much aftercare, they were happy I'd been for a wee even though nothing really came out and now 3 weeks later I'm still struggling to wee or stand for long amounts of time bc my bladder! also if your stitches haven't disolve after 2 weeks I'd get them taken out, mine had started to irritate and itch the skin and made the pain worse x
