I'm currently having prostap injections. I've been on the pill prior, over a decade and a half and don't really want a coil fitted, as it's too painful.
I am struggling with the quite a few side effects, such as mood swings, hot flushes, loss of appetite etc. Also I'm still getting pains in my pelvis and legs. I have adhesions, which i still feel pulling. But I don't really know what else is available, apart from the above mentioned.
Plus side, no excruciating periods!
Many other alternative, open to suggestions!

I had 3 injections of Prostap last year before my surgery as the endo had spreaded to the abdomen. The side effects, including hot flushes, were a living hell, and on some days I had to literally crawl out of bed. The pain you're experiencing is normal as Prostap flares up any inflammation/cyst you might have in your body before reducing it. Pain killers should help and a hot water bottle. Vit. B (I took Miligamma, complex of Vit B) helps with the mood swings and take Calcium for the bone mass you're losing. Also stay away from coffee and alcohol, if you can... (I didn't!)
I had my surgery in August and they fitted a Mirena coil in. I'm not a great fan of it due to the pain it causes but it's the second one I've had in 3 years and I'll give it a try for a couple more months. Everybody I know says the coil is the best way to keep the endo under control and the side effects, including pain, should become milder after 7 months...
i always have mine fitted with a laparoscopy ideally. everyone’s so different though so may not be suitable for you. I got lucky i think and i didn’t have bleeding or pain for 3 years. I cried when they removed it so i could ttc
