Hi Ladies,
Can anyone advise me on the depo injection for endo treatment as gynae thinks that it maybe a better treatment for me than the mini pill as I have been bleeding a lot whilst on it. Has anyone found it a better option?
Thanks xx

Hello- I have had many endo treatments and am presently on Depo Provera,as ithas been said I can take it till I am 50 yrs.I have found it very successful as I have had no bleeding, but less successful than GNRH agoists like Decapeptyl.I was on mini pill many years ago and it did not work. The depo jab has much bigger dose, but does take time to take effect-sometimes 2 or 3 months,by which time you are due your next one.Definitely worth a try.
Hi Daffodil,
Thanks for your advice I think I will definitely give it a try,as I am sick of constantly having a dark brown discharge whilst on the mini pill!!
I also don't like the sound of the mirena !!
Sending health and happiness for 2014!! Nat x
Hi Nat
I asked the same question a little while ago.
The depo had also been suggested to me by a specialist as a long term treatment for my Endo, she said I can stay on the depo until menopause (Im now 43) I tried the. Mirena twice (disastrous ) ! I can't take the combined pill as I have migraine and I don't want all the side effects of the gnrh drugs. I was put on the mini pill and like you I was suffering from constant bleeding.
I have had an MRI scan today and I go back to see the Endo specialist in a few weeks. If surgery isn't an option (it seems my pelvis is sticky mess ) I think I will try the depo provera as I'm running out of options.
Please let me know what you decide.
X
And to you also!Do keep us all posted on how you get on.Sending you a big hug.
Hi cuddlybarb,
I also tried the combined pill which didn't agree with me as I have a history with headaches. The mirena isn't really an option as I have heard too many negatives things about it. I think I will definitely give it a go as my consultant also advised as she didn't want to just send me for surgery again straight away. She told me yesterday going off my symptoms that he endo could be on my bladder which I'm a bit worried about.
I hope your treatment goes well and keep us posted Thanks so much for the reply. Wishing you a happy healthy new year xxx
Hi! I am on the Depo injection. Prior to this I was on Zoladex which DID NOT work for me. It took until the second injection of Depo for it to kick in properly although my bleeding stopped straight away. For the first 3 months I did still suffer with quite a bit of pelvic pain as usual but since then I have had none to speak of; perhaps the odd twinge here and there! I was also quite emotional and irritable in the first 3 months although now that is not as bad. The only thing that does get me down a bit is that I have gained weight even though my lifestyle and eating habits have not changed at all and I guess that, for me, that is the negative aspect of the treatment. Besides that I would definitely recommend it as a treatment for Endo! Good luck! XXX
I have been on depo 6 years which has worked fine for my endo pain but just had a bone density scan and been told my bones have thinned to a very low level and I am now at risk of osteoporosis. It's frustrating to think you get over one thing to then be told you have something else. I was also on zoladex for a year which worked for me. I had the coil but my body just rejected this
