I recently saw my doctor again and medications I have been taken doesn’t work at all anymore. The next options are the injection, the implant or the coil. Does anyone have any advice or story about them all? Each terrify me beyond belief but I need something, any help or anything is appreciated x

Hi I have had both the injection and the implant.

Injection - I use to get this in my buttock and it’s quick however it made me put on loads of weight.

Implant - I got this twice so for a total of 6 years and never had a period. It made me again put on weight. When I decided to get it out of my arm they couldn’t find it so I had to have it removed at the hospital and have the scars on my arms now. I lost 2 stone without trying and I believe this hid my gynaecology problems as they only started once this was out of my arm.

I personally wouldn’t recommend either due to my own personal al experiences however they obviously work for others.

I now prefer the pill as I can control that more and stop it when I want x

Thank you so much! I think the fault is I’ve now exhausted all pill options as they were my first options - the implant is scary to me because I feel it has so many horror stories but as you said everyone is different! Thank you so much for the advice and I’m glad you found something x

Hey I’ve had all 3, all with pros and cons and the tricky part is what works for me won’t always for another person. I’ve found it very much trial and error.

Implant fab first one, second one didn’t help as much. Some bleeding (randomly)

Injection, I had to have every 10 weeks but was fab!! Downside was, it would randomly wear off 6-9 months after getting them so wasn’t long term enough for me

Coil is still fairly new, I’ve not had it removed and it hasn’t caused anymore problems - which I’m happy with as all I read previously were horror stories!

Feel free to ask or message any questions if you want to know anything more. If that’s any help

I’ve been on the injection for 2 years and no periods I’ve had all types of pills implant coil had the injection years ago and I still had periods but this time I don’t so it is really trial and error to see what works for you.x

I've tried the coil and injection but bleed on both ! However no bad side affects ! My mums had the coil for 10 year (on her second one) and she rates it very highly ! You have just got to fine what is best for you ! Xx
