After two years of getting nowhere I’m hoping my appoint with an actual endo specialist will finally lead to a diagnosis and a plan. I wasfobbed off by a general gynae who, as I’ve said on here before, said that because the mirena hadn’t stopped my pain then it can’t be a gynae issue. This was despite me explaining the cyclical pattern of pain. Many more fob offs by GP’s but yesterday I saw one who listened and agreed that I need to see someone who knows what they’re talking about and recommended seeing a consultant who works at BSGE centre but also does private work. Great news and appointment made. However, he that he might put me on zoladex or prostap as a first plan of action which terrifies me! Is this what tends to happen? I was hoping for a laparoscopy. Hormone treatments scare me because I had very bad postnatal depression which lead to anorexia and I can’t go there again.

First appointment with endo specialist but GP has worried me!
Hi there
The GP is only surmising what the specialist may say. I would suggest going to the specialist appointment with an open mind. The specialist won't make any decisions without involving you fully in them.
Some specialists prescribe a short course of Zoladex/Prostap prior to laparoscopy to make surgery a bit easier and to ease symptoms beforehand. But usually only in women who are not prioritising fertility.
You can express any worries you have with the specialist.
I recall being offered 3 months' Zoladex before my first laparoscopy to make surgery easier. I was worried about it and said no. However, about a year after my 2nd op I did opt for Zoladex. People have very mixed experiences of it.
Good luck with your appointment.
Hi,
Has the G.P. been able to give any indication how long it will take to be seen at a specialist centre?
LCI1
I’m seeing the consultant privately so I managed to get an appointment this week.
Is that still through a specialist centre with a multi disciplinary team or just a private practice?
It’s just at a Nuffield hosp so I’m guessing that if I needed a MDT I’d have to go NHS. At this point in time I’m just glad to be able to see someone who knows what they’re they’re doing.
Okay thanks - I have had a lap at a BMI hospital which was meant to be to remove an ovarian cyst however severe endometriosis so this didn’t happen. Back to see consultant so been doing a bit of research into what my next steps might be.
