Ovarian cyst rupture on mirena coil...ouch!

Hi Ladies

Two nights ago I had very sudden and severe pain in my abdomen. I could hardly breathe or walk, and felt very nauseous, sweaty etc. I took 800mg of ibuprofen and after about an hour it all calmed down and I basically fell asleep due to the shock of it all and the drugs knocking me out a bit. felt very weak the following day but basically ok now.

I know after my last op (to remove some significant endo all over my pelvic region) that I had an endometrioma on my left ovary that my surgeon removed. As i've been on the mirena coil for a year it seems unlikely that I'd develop another one and for it to burst, but that's the only thing I can think of that lines up with all the symptoms?

Has anyone had a similar thing, and do you think it's worth checking in with my GP? I'm feeling a bit glum that a cyst has grown whilst on the coil. I did wonder if I had a cyst as I got pain on my left side - I also read that the coil can cause them. So now I don't really know if its the coil or endo that has caused it. Would so appreciate any advice/experience you may have!

I think you need to see a GP.

There is no telling what exactly has happened, and I wouldn't assume that it is the cyst rupturing, or anything else. It could be any number of things, most of them possibly minor. However, as you have this particular concern, then see a GP.
