I was referred to the endometriosis clinic in the Coombe hospital Dublin last summer and was wondering what to expect, is it a good experience?
Anyone here from Republic of Ireland and ... - Endometriosis UK
Anyone here from Republic of Ireland and had experience with the new endometriosis clinic in the Coombe hospital Dublin?
Hey, I've been seen recently at the Endo Clinic in the Coombe. It was a good experience, the wait for an appointment was much shorter than I expected (only 5 months) and I met with one of the endo consultants. He was really thorough, explained the surgery I needed and referred me to a surgeon the same day (as I needed a bowel specialist). They are very in demand so I waited an hour to be seen, even with an appointment but it was a positive experience.
Hey thank you for replying, wow you were lucky, 5 months. Did you have far to go?
I know, I was surprised too, my gynae told me I would probably be waiting years for an appt. Do you mean far to go for the referral? I was referred to a bowel consultant in Dublin so not far at all for me, but he also has a waiting list so I'm waiting to see him now!
Hi! I was referred to the clinic back in 2021 but back then the wait time was 2 years (its shorter now) so they offered that I just go see Dr Hugh O Connor privately (the younger one). I havent got surgery with him yet but have been going to him for a couple of years now and he's very kind and knowledgable.
Hey thank you for replying and yeah I was told that the waiting list was really long, does that mean that the endometriosis clinic is solely looking after you now or does your gp stick be involved?
Im going to multiple consultants... Gynae, gastro, urologist, pain specialist, physio etc
Oh wow ok , so this is the multidisciplinary team I keep hearing about? That it talks a team like you have to treat it.
