Hi, hope you are all well!! I wanted to ask if anyone has experienced an ovarian cyst rupture. I have been told that I have no cysts on my ovaries from ultrasound scans however a week ago I had the most excruciating pain ever. Now I experience awful awful pain with my period but this was different. It came on so sudden and lasted for around 40 minutes, I couldn’t walk or stand straight and I nearly had to call an ambulance. All the pain was on the right lower side of my abdomen and also got pain down there too. It felt like a severe ripping burning feeling.
So I just wanted to know if this sounds like what you have experienced if it was a ruptured cyst as I know sometimes ultrasounds do not pick up on cysts caused by endometriosis. Thanks 😊

Yes, that sounds like it to me, I usually can't even move my legs, cold sweats, it usually lasts about 3hrs and then I'm just very tender for a few days after. If you had an ultrasound, like you said sometimes they don't show unfortunately, they found one during surgery for me.
Okay thanks for you reply😊, I ended up not going to hospital as I couldn’t move and couldn’t have sat on a chair for hours waiting to be seen!! The severe pain left after 40 mins- an hour sort of lost track of time. But I had a slight ripping pain in my lower right abdomen until the next day and could not even touch the area.
Sounds awful. This is what I am worried about. I have a massive cyst and so nervous this could happen before they sort out what to do as I am high risk for any surgery I need a hysterectomy but no one will do it due to scares from complicated birth and endo scars too. I hope you are feeling better. Did you feel or get sick too? Take care. Look after yourself. Xx
Hi so sorry to hear about your pain.I too have experienced a ruptured cyst.I was awaiting a operation to have it removed and when i went to have another ultrasound to check it before surgery it had gone.I was not suprised as i had the same experience as yourself.Actually it still hurt a few days later. The pain on rupture was intense. Mafe me sick actually. For a few days after it was like bad period pain...take care
So sorry to hear you experienced that!! I didn’t get sick? Is that a common symptom or can it happen without any sickness. Before the severe pain came I got awful gas pain but no sickness.
No it can definately happen without sickness.Just a personal thing i think. When the pain started i was just sick once because of the initial pain.It comes out of nowhere doesnt it.So you have a feeling that something has happened dont you.I know what you mean about gas pain though and i do suffer from that terribly so that could of made me be sick once.It highly lightly. But i saw someone suggest you try the anti imflamitory diet.Think we should both try it and see how it goes as my stomach is constantly swollen.Bless you its not nice at all.Sending you all my best wishes x
the pain is horrendous and to be honest you are lucky that it only lasted 40 minutes. It must have been a fairly small cyst or it stopped seeping as it is the blood that causes the pain. Have you tried a wheat free/gluten free diet? That with an anti inflammatory diet can work wonders, see endometriosis.co.uk
Hope you are ok, it's the worst pain I've ever experienced. I was on the floor with the pain as well. It was picked up on my CT scan as I had fluid near my ribs and that's where the pain ended up going to following the pain in my pelvis.
Keep on at them and if you are now at home keep checking your temperature etc.
Hope you are ok, think mine burst a year ago nearly to the day! 🤣
I'm sure I have. I had all the same symptoms as you and was nauseous then a blinding headache. I somehow got to a&e and was there for 8 hours. It was hell on earth. I was given antisickness meds and was sick straight after! I was told it was probably a migraine even though it was abdominal issues and I mentioned the cyst... I ended up having a brain scan...At my laparoscopy to remove the cyst and oophorectomy they discovered the cyst had already burst but found more of them, fibroid and endo.
I'm waiting on a specialist appointment but I'm always paranoid the other cysts may rupture in the meantime!
So sad to hear all of these awful stories of so many women in excruciating pain!! That’s one thing I’m afraid of is if I’m out or alone that another one might rupture, as I wouldn’t be able to move like the last time.
I hope you are well and do not get anymore ruptures!! Thanks for your reply.😊
you may have ruptured a cyst, or it might have been ovarian torsion that possibly sorted itself out. I’ve had both. With ovarian torsion I honestly thought I was dying for about 30 minutes until it resolved, i couldn’t even talk to communicate to my husband to call an ambulance …. The severe pain then resolved quite quickly, I was tender afterwards. With a ruptured cyst I had abdominal pain for several days afterwards which I was told was because the fluid would have irritated abdominal lining.
