Laparoscopic surgery with complications (internal bleeding)

Hi everyone.

I had my first laparoscopic excision of endometriosis 3 weeks ago, and they found severe endometriosis pretty much on all my organs. They tried to remove most of it. Unfortunately I got very unlucky and I was in so much pain after the surgery that they realised I was suffering from internal bleeding. I had to have another surgery to stop the bleeding in my bowel less than 48 hours after, it was apparently a complicated surgery. I didn't leave the hospital for a week, couldn't eat drink or speak for a week and was on morphine (IV) for 4 days. My recovery is very slow. Im extremely tired, still in pain. I can't sleep properly and I have crazy night sweats (I have to change clothes in the middle of the night), I have nightmares. Because I had fever and threw up this week I'm going to go back to the hospital to check for an infection.

Has anyone else had complications with their laparoscopy? Has it made the recovery so slow? I'm supposed to be back at work in one week (one month off in total) but I still can't walk for more than 10 minutes and feel too dizzy ans tired in general.

Thanks ;)

Rebecca

So sorry to hear this Rebecca! Sounds like you’re going through a really difficult time. Please continue to think only of yourself and your health and rest and recover as best you can. If you don’t feel well enough to go back to work then ask for another sick note or for your current one to be extended. Your health and well-being is the most important. I hope you feel better soon! Xx

Thank you. My leave has been extended to 5 weeks now, I'm still in pain so may need to extend it more :(
