I had the mirena coil fitted five weeks ago during my first diagnostic laparoscopy where endometriosis was diagnosed. They didn’t remove any tissue, because that’s not how they do it at that hospital; the first laparoscopy is purely diagnostic. I have a follow-up appointment with them on the 31st.
Since having the coil fitted, I haven’t stopped bleeding. It is lighter than it was before, but definitely more than what you would call spotting. I’ve also been in a lot of pain. Every time I go to the toilet (whether it’s a wee or a poo) is painful - something I only used to experience when on my period. I’ve also been in daily, not quite constant sharp pain, that seems to start in my clitoris and spread down through my legs (making it difficult to walk) and up to my stomach. I think I’ve also been experiencing stomach pain (separate from the clitoral one) since I’ve had the coils fitted. None of this pain is even touched by paracetamol and ibuprofen.
Is this normal? I went to my GP surgery and they said a doctor would give me a call on Friday (surprise surprise, they didn’t phone me), and I’m wondering if I should even bother? My follow-up with the endo team is three weeks away, so I could just wait until then?
I’m feeling very bummed out and apathetic. Any other similar coil experiences would be appreciated ♥️
