Now what? Take co-codamol!

I’ve always had extremely heavy, painful periods and needed the help of clomid to conceive my children. After years of intermittent pain and now 2 years of constant pain I’ve seen colorectal consultants, urologist and a gynaecologist. I never thought that it was a bowel problem but went through the tests extra as surely “they know best”! Five months ago I saw a gynae consultant who said it sounds like it might be endometriosis so recommended a hysteroscopy and Mirena coil. The could certainly stopped the awful periods but still get cramps and daily brown, sometimes bloody discharge(sorry!). The awful pulling pain in my right pelvis however is still there and possibly continues to worsen as does a horrible pain a pressure between bottom and what feels like cervix (?). Also, the right side of my pelvis always feels full and def not bowel related. Anyway, been to GP today and she basically said take co-codamol as there’s nothing else to do! I forgot to add that when I went back to see the gynae for a follow up on Mirena fitting she said that because I still had pain it can’t be gynae so off I go! I don’t know where to turn as this can’t be normal and I know something isn’t right! I can’t stand for long periods of time as pulling pain extends down my leg. Do I really have to put up and shut up?..

Ask for second opinion with another consultant. It sounds like you do have endo from what you are describing. They should at least try laparoscopy to check what’s going on inside x

Thank you. It’s so frustrating that sometimes no cause can be found for pain when, as you say, they haven’t done a laparoscopy. X

Push for it. If you don’t feel you can ask someone to push for you. You know your body better than anyone. They can’t say for sure it’s not endo without investigating properly. I was so lucky with my GP she picked it up so quickly with me and got the ball rolling for me. What I done is paid private for consultation with gynaecologist and then asked to have the lap done on nhs. If you’ve got spare money maybe pay private to see one. I found I had more time with gyne and he really listened to me, he was really thorough x

I’ve seen one privately but she was so dismissed but I’m considering a second opinion from one I’ve found a bit further from home that seems a bit more of an endo specialist! Also just remembered that when I saw the gynae she said that my records showed I’d had a laparoscopy but I haven’t it was a minor laparotomy you check small bowel and unrelated! Wondering if it’s never been amended so gp this morning might also think that it’s been covered! Frustrating!

I find that male gynaecologists are better. Seen on female and she was rude. Hope you get answers soon and the right treatment x
