Pregnant very soon after laparoscopy - happy but worried about stretching womb where surgery took place!

Hello,

I was posting quite a bit here in the run up to my lap and just after. I had the lap on the 3rd July and although i found the recovery mentally quite challenging, overall it was successful. I had deep infiltrating endo (which I've had for 10 years +) removed which was sticking my womb to my rectum and also a few other bits cleaned up on my ovaries etc.

The assistant surgeon mentioned it would be sensible to give it 3 months before trying to conceive to let everything heal up, but now just over 10 weeks after the op I have found out that I am pregnant! I think I am around 5 weeks now (although that means I only actually conceived 3 weeks ago with the way they work out the date from the date of your last period) I am obviously over the moon and hope my story can give up to other endo sufferers, but also feel a bit worried that I didn't wait the recommended time - I guess I'm just so used to not being able to conceive I really wasn't expecting it so soon.... has anyone else been in this situation and was everything okay? I feel in good health now and my external scars have healed super well and are barely visible, but i'm hoping that the inside has healed too, having anxiety that it will damage my womb in some way when it stretches :/

Wooo this is great news!! Huge congratulations. I wouldn’t worry at all.

I had my surgery on the 20th July and I’m in my 2week wait trying naturally! Xx

hey,

great news!

I conceived (accidentally..!) just over a month after my laparoscopy in 2011, and the pregnancy went without complications on that front. So, I wouldn't worry too much about the operation anymore, just concentrate on taking care of yourself now! All the best, xx

Don't worry. A well-performed, complete excision can often lead to pregnancy even 1-2 months after the surgery. If all endometriosis and all adhesions were removed during surgery, I wouldn't worry about the pregnancy much but please do make sure you visit the endo specialist who performed surgery during pregnancy to make sure everything is under control.

I fell 2 months after a intensive surgery with an endo specialist which removed all endo ( 3rd lap) I had endo all over my pod, uteroscaral ligaments & rectum. My pregnancy was successful & I had my daughter in June this year. I hope that can offer you some reassurance. Congrats on the pregnancy wishing you the best with it ❤️xxx
