Hi everyone I’m looking for some advice please as I am at my whits end 😢

I have been having Gynaecological problems since 2007.

I have always had horrendously painful and heavy periods since starting age 11 (I’m now 33) over the years I have experienced numerous ovarian cysts and endometriosis.

I have tried various treatments such as contraceptive pill, implant, prostap injections and currently have the Mirena coil fitted.

I have had the coil in nearly 5 months and it’s not easing my symptoms. I am bleeding most days and in incredible pain daily. I experience pain in my lower tummy, vagina, back and legs and experience discomfort when going to the toilet.

My Gynaecologist has said I need to learn to manage the pain so referred me to the pain management team. I have seen the doctor who recommended the coil and pelvic physio. So I have the coil and have been doing physio with no improvement.

I am taking Cocodamol and Tramadol on a daily basis and often have to top up with Oramorph. I haven’t worked in months and spend a lot of time in bed.

I have a 2 year old son who I am unable to look after on my own and I just would like to achieve some quality of life.

Recent MRI looked clear of anything sinister so no ‘obvious’ cause if the pain.

I have asked for a hysterectomy but the pain management consultant is resistant. I am aware a hysterectomy doesn’t cure end but it could help manage the painful periods, pain and cysts.

Any advice on how I move forward is greatly received.

I’ve been bleeding since September. I had the coil at Xmas and they then put me on the pill at March then upto two as the bleeding hadn’t stopped. It’s not much better now or the pain and fatigue. I asked for a hysterectomy at Christmas and was told no, but I am currently waiting surgery to remove one of my ovaries hoping that’ll help. Has your consultant ever mentioned that? Is your pain one sided or both? X

I’m sorry things have been tough for you x no they haven’t mentioned taking one of my ovaries. I experience more pain on the left but get cysts on both. I can tell when I ovulate which ovary I ovulate from due to the pain. I hope your surgery goes well xxx

Hi can you go to a different doctor and see what their opinion is of everything that is going on with regards to your symptoms? Have you ever been given a laparoscopy?

I believe is women know our own bodies and we can tell when something isn’t right, it’s finding out exactly what is going on inside our bodies.

That’s good you have been given an MRI as that shows up issues like adenomyosis but a laproscopy is definitely required if you are to be checked for endometriosis.

I totally get you have no quality of life as I feel like that sometimes, I am often in so much pain due to lots of illnesses that each day it’s hard to put one foot in front of the other. I hope you have support at home, kind family and friends and you will get lots of support on this forum too x
