Recent laparoscopy

Hello guys I just want to hear a few people's experiences with laparoscopy. I had endometriosis diagnosed mid June. She performed helica while I was out to remove the endometriosis. I am still in so much pain, and still signed off work. I had a few UTI infections after as well and have had 4 courses of antibiotics. Genuinely feeling so low I keep crying because of the pain.

I just want to know if anyone else experienced this type of pain. Or problems after their procedure.

Thanks.

Just had to look up Helica, I've learnt something new:

Helica Thermal Coagulator; This uses Helium gas and a small electric current to dry out endometriosis using a process called fulguration.

fulguration - the destruction of small growths or areas of tissue using diathermy

So in essence you've had heat to kill off the top layer of endo, it will leave the remaining endo layers underneath which can cause regrowth, and some symptoms may remain. It's meant to be quicker to recover from. So you should be feeling better, but because you've been on antibiotics suggests infection which often means it slows down recovery as the infection is treated first then the body can heal.

It can take about 4 months to heal completely, you should be seeing improvements already. Don't worry about the time signed off work; you need that, I took 5 weeks after my last lap.

You should contact your specialist / surgeon and book a follow up appointment as soon as possible and discuss what you're going through and see if it's what they expect.

x

Thank you for your reply. Recently I've been having so much pain around my sides all down my love handles, it's very tender to touch. Along with watery stools. I'm so fed up with it. Honestly. The stomach issues might be down to antibiotics and recently starting antidepressants.

I've got a follow up appointment in November.

Just feel so low at the moment.

Hi ,

I had first lap for severe endo at the start of may.

The pain was far worst post op than anything I experienced pre op. My mood also went very low .

I'm into my 4th month and only now starting to see the light . .

I found this forum so helpful as ladies advised me it can take six months to recover .

Meantime I went to a health shop and got really got quality vitamin b complex, star flower oil and magnesium powder. I ordered really good pro biotics called vsl#3online.

I felt they really helped me but hard to prove.

I am also sign off work but I am definitely better this month than my 3rd month.

My advice for what it's worth, see your doctor to make sure there's no complications. Then do everything in your own power to recover, good diet. Rest, gentle exercise, swimming worked for me on days I was fit. And look up alternative health things that might help.

Wishing You a a good recovery😀

Thank you for replying to me.

Tomorrow I am due to start a phase return to work. And I am so nervous about it. I've had such a bad stomach and that worries me. Plus the pain.

I've been to the Dr and they don't really have much to say other than take pain killers. One dr said I just had back ache .. but then urine showed infection in my kidneys. You know when one thing gets you down and then it's another thing and another thing. Just seems to be spiraling out of control with my health

Hi.

I know how you feel. The constant pain really gets you down. .

I feel the same. . I dread returning to work with pain but also wonder if work will distract from the pain.

I'm still trying to be hopeful that time will help the body heal along with rest good food etc.

It hard to stay positive. I've cried so much last few days. . I just really hope time heals for us both

I find myself in tears more often. I've started on fluoxetine because I am so miserable.

My bowels are just going mad and I've got pain all down my "love handles". I'm seriously so fed up. I'm never hungry so have lost weight.

Fingers crossed tomorrow I don't poo myself at work. (sorry for putting it's so bluntly ) hahaha.

I sit and cry thinking why did I bother having this stupid procedure done. It's been nothing but trouble since.

Not what you're looking for?
