Bowel prep for hysterectomy

I am due to have my hyster in 1.5weeks time as luckily its been bought forward.. I was wondering if bowel prep was given to anyone before a hysterectomy as a necessity...I haven't been asked to do one nor given one... I don't want to turn up on the day and then have my surgery cancelled because of not doing one...

Hello. I was asked to prep, they had seen endo near my bowel so wanted to have the option to excise there too if needed. I suggest you contact your surgeon (or their assistant) and let them know you want to prep just in case. In my case it was worth it as they did need to perform bowel surgery. They wouldn’t have without the prep. Best of luck with everything.

Have you had a pre-op? I would phone the secretary today and ask advice. If it’s not a straightforward hysterectomy they will close you up as the risks are too high! Please check as I would have the same fears as you. I had bowel prep for each of my laparoscopies and I have it waiting for my hysterectomy next month.

I had my preop and it went outof my head to ask then too...will definitely have to call and ask... for my previous surgeries I have always done one..will have to find out...

No one picked up..called again and again..left a message and got soo excited for the call back only to be told my OP has been rescheduled all the way to October...it was a devastating blow...

Oh god I’m so sorry. I feel for you as I was told July 2018 mine would be in December 2018. I’ve just had my 3rd pre op and been promised it’s 4th September. Each time was horrendous as I’d put my life on hold. Stay strong you can do this 🥰
