Yes I had this before my radical hystertomy in Dec, you need to be near loo after taking and you do feel, like you are never going to stop going to the loo!,

Hi, yeah I had to do this before my lap, it's not a whole lot of fun for sure but it's manageable. I agree with sunshine girl, it's not that bad but it did get to a point where I was thinking, how can I still be going! Without too much information id suggest putting a book or some magazines in your bathroom and get some gentle baby wipes. I've had to do it twice and those things made it more comfortable the second time. It's totally fine, think of it as a good detox! :) good luck xxxx

Yes, agree with all of the above comments. I had to do this for the first time for my second lap just before Christmas and yes, it wasn't pleasant that's for sure but the clearer the insides are, the easier it is for them to operate.

The only thing I would add is it will dehydrate you considerably, so make sure you drink plenty of water and any other allowed fluids before the cut off time. All the best x

Yes, agree with what everyone has said. First had this for my bowel surgery about 8 years ago, and need to do it again next week as have bowel surgery again and full hysterectomy. It's not as daunting as it sounds. Just be near the loo. I used wet wipes (then place in a bag) rather than loo roll as can get quite sore (without being too detailed)!! Try to get plenty of rest beforehand and drink loads leading unto op before the cut off point. Good luck x

I've just picked it up. Picolax !! Thanks for all that replied , it made me feel better than what I read on Google !! X

Hello honey, I had to have 2 lots of picolax in the space of a week a few months back (was having a colonoscopy but the first time they tried to do it they had to put it off because they wanted to put me under a general anaesthetic, which meant waiting another week & having to do the bowel prep again!) It usually takes effect between 30mins & 2hrs after taking it, so be near the loo at all times. Have a few books/magazines/something to do in the bathroom as you will be on the loo for a while. Get some wetwipes & extra soft loo roll before hand, as well as some bepanthen as your bottom will probably be quite sore after. Its not the pleasantest of experiences but I found afterwards I actually felt pretty cleansed/detoxed! Keep drinking plenty of water too as it will dehydrate you. Good luck :) xxx

It really wasn't as bad as I was expecting it to be. It's like having severe diarrhoea but without the feeling sick part that usually goes with it. Make sure you stay home for the day. And make sure you have nice soft toilet paper or some wipes because you might get a bit sore.

I found the worst thing about it was actually getting the drink down me! It's not the best, as I've had this a couple of time I keep it super cold and drink it through a straw. Good luck x

I had it and then my op was cancelled the next morning, how annoying was that!!!?!! LOL! 2nd time lucky, at least I knew what to expect. Drink lots you get dehydrated.
