Finally have a date for surgery after going private
Does anyone have an idea of how long you can’t fly for after surgery??

Hi, i was booked in for 7th August and was scheduled to be flying approx a month later which doctor said was fine.
I think you need at-least two weeks, something to do with the air they pump in to you (can) reacts with the high pressure in the airplane?!
You probably don’t want to fly too soon when you’re recovering anyway?
With pelvic surgery you have higher risk of bloody clots. My surgeon told me no long haul flights for 5 weeks post surgery or 2 weeks short haul but worth checking with your surgeon.
Hi there! I had a lap 11 June, and while recovering had to fly from Cardiff to Atlanta for a family event on 22 June. Walking and carrying a bag through the airport was the worst part. I wore comfy trousers, covered my incisions with bandages, and slept most of the 9h flight. I’ve always worn tight, knee high hiking socks on long flights to prevent my feet falling asleep (kinda like those blood pressure stockings during post op recovery). I was okay on the flight! ! If you feel okay, your incisions are closed and you avoid lifting heavy bags, you be the judge of you.
Thanks all! My boyfriend had booked a surprise and had to spill the beans!
I will double check with the surgeon
I flew a week after my surgery, it was technically fine but I wouldn't recomend it. It was uncomfortable and I had to keep the compression socks on for the whole holiday lol
