Cloth Pads

Anyone here use cloth pads/period pants? I've been debating changing to this because the amount I spend on pads and tampons is pretty astronomical (plus saving the environment and all that) but am concerned that it wouldn't work well for a super heavy/clotty flow. Anyone got any experience?

I use a cup, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.

I'd love to be able to but I have vaginismus and struggle even with tampons, otherwise I think this would be my go to! x

I’ve been using reusable pads as I’m no longer able to use my cup because of pain. I had a laparoscopy at the beginning of April and they were a god send as you aren’t able to insert anything into the vagina so no tampons etc. I have heavy periods and clotting but find them fine once you get over the yucky feeling from wearing pads (which may just be me). You can buy ones for a heavier flow and also different lengths so I buy long ones to use at night. I get them on Etsy from a seller called red queen cloth, she makes loads of different designs x

Yeah I really hate the feeling of things like coming out but with work and the effort it takes to insert a tampon, I spend a lot of time in pads. I've just ordered a pair of the pants to wear on the first and last days, and maybe with a tampon as well (as I often bleed through both) to see how I get on before ordering some reusable pads/more pants! x

I've used them for 7-8 months as it was too painful to use my cup after surgery. I found really helpful videos on YouTube. If you are heavy (I am!) choose fleece topped or minky topped pads. Cotton is better for light flow but doesn't absorb quick enough for heavy. Earthwise girls website is good and has a comparison chart as pads vary a lot in length between brands. Their own brand is a good budget option to start. The good news is they absorb way more than disposables :) best advise I heard is buy individual pads where possible so if you try one and if don't love it, you didn't invest all your money in ones that don't work for you. I have tried 5 different types. My favorite are Charlie Banana brand as they deal well with my heavy days and wash up a dream! I'm only a size 10 and find some pads too big for me so its definitely an individual thing. Anything else you want to know please ask, I'd definitely try them though!
