I had a scan on Wednesday after reading about endo and wondering if what I thought was IBS is actually Endo (symptoms have been much worse recently, particularly the bloat!). I spoke to my Dr about the results today and it turns out I have a cyst the size of a tennis ball (6.2cm to be precise) on my right ovary and my left ovary is sticking to my womb, so Endo is very much likely although yet to be diagnosed officially (also having blood tests next week just to rule out cancerous cysts.) He said I will need Laparoscopy at a minimum and the cyst may be drained or removed but as it's over 5cm we need to act. He asked if I had any questions and to be honest, all I could think about was a tennis ball attached to my ovary, I just needed to digest it all. But now, all I'm thinking about is that both of my ovaries are affected and if I need to have surgery on both sides and I fear about fertility. I will be seeing the gynecologist next but i was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience?
Thanks

hi. Hope you ok. Yes I've had similar, cysts on both ovaries and everything stuck together. I had surgery and they managed to save the left side but the right side the cyst was 10 cm and had to be reconstructed. Roll on two years and after a cycle of ivf I'm 28 weeks pregnant so it is possible even with damage. If you have any questions feel free 😊. Xx
Hi lovely, thanks for your reply! And congratulations
Wow 10cm, I thought mine sounded big! I'm so pleased it's working out for you after what you've been through. Up until recently, I never contemplated having difficulties getting pregnant as my Mum had 4 children with no issues. I will stay hopeful though. (Us poor ladies aye!) Thank you xx
😊. It's often missed, I only got diagnosed after a miss diagnosis of appendicitis, it was a ruptured cyst. They drained mine but within 6 weeks it was even bigger ☹ . I was lucky to see a brilliant bsge specialist who was brilliant. Have you heard of the Endo diet? Might help. Xx
No I haven't heard of the Endo diet but I'll have a look now, thank you. Sometimes I avoid eating because if it feels like I put anything else in there I'll pop, which is not good. Thanks for the tip xx
hi. Yes it refilled very quickly, it was picked up on an MRI request from the specialist. I was sceptical about the diet but it made a difference, I've got bowel Endo so what I eat can irritate it. Hope you get some answers soon. Xx
I had a 10cm cyst (teratoma) on my left ovary. I was diagnosed when I had a strong pain on the upper left side of my abdomen (at the beginning they thought it was something else). They did a surgery (kind of a c-section) to remove it. The surgery was done by a very good doctor as he was able to “save” the ovary. But now the left ovary is really small and sometimes it cannot be seen on the ultrasounds. Few years later I had a 3cm cyst on the right ovary that “dissapeared” by itself after several years of taking a contraceptive pill. Still I have a little pain on my right side, so the doctor was not able to discard endo (they suspected that I had it, but I don’t have all the symptoms since my periods are not painful).
Gosh, bless you. Yes, I've read the contraceptive pill helps...I came off the pill a few years back because I thought I'd be doing better for my body to have a break from it, but I guess I've made it worse.
Yes, I read that not everyone has all the symptoms...and I guess people have different pain tolerances too. I hope the pain gets better for you and thanks for the information
