Endometriosis on Appendix

Hi everyone, I had a laparoscopy yesterday to remove a large cyst from my left ovary and the surgeon told me I have endometriosis all over my bowel and also all over my appendix. He recommends removing my appendix - just wondering if anyone has experience of appendix endometriosis and how you treated it? It seems to be asymptomatic but physically quite severe. I haven't seen many updates on this type of endo. Thanks.

they found it on my apendix but it was just left 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for the response! I wonder how they assess what's severe enough to be treated. My appendix seems to be completely covered so maybe it's just easier to take it out because it's so far progressed.

I think mine was superficial so maybe that's why. All my severity is in POD

I had mine removed due to endometriosis, in May of this year. The surgeon noted it would’ve been unethical and unsafe if they left it in.

Thank you, that's really good to know! Did you get it removed by a colorectal surgeon or a gynaecologist? Definitely planning to get mine removed too, the surgeon told me it's very inflamed (but not his specialist area) so I'll hopefully be able to get that done during my next surgery.

I got mine removed by a gynecologist! Yes, hopefully you can get it out your next surgery 🙏🏾 I didn’t know how serious it could be.
