After a total hysterectomy and oopherectomy in 2016. I was placed on this cream this year as I was having issues with water infections and slight bleeding after being intimate...I must point out that Im not very large and had a tilted womb...so angular wise i may be slightly still tilted...this was also only my second intimate relationship...and my 1st after having the surgery. So went to doctors and they kept saying a water infection...I wasnt convinced...so went back to my gynaecologist consultant and he said it was due to low estrogen in that area...although i was taking the 2mg tablets some womens bodies mive it around their system in different ways and as such some areas have more of it than others. So I was estrogen deficient in my vagina. Which also consequently ment my urethra was weakened also which contributed to water infections...so i need a estrogen boost in that area.

So i followed all the instructions. It was fine for a while and the suddenly I found it wasnt. I could no longer get the applicator inside. (The design on that thing was stupid to start off with...a flat top?? And it was not small in length and alhough I am VERY hygiene aware...borders on ocd...you had to keep reusing and cleaning the applicator and it was not easy...especially at the top as it had the grooves where you had to screw the tube into the applicator to push in the cream) I was also started suffering from thrush...and irritation. I also started having sickness and dizzyness...and the final one was I took it (the last time I did!!) And I became Hot, Sore, and swollen in that area.

Went to the doctors and she said it sounded like an allergic reaction...it surprised me as I assumed it would of happened sooner... but shs said that with somethings...if you are allergic to a preservative it takes time to build in your system.

Well that was that I thought Id be in serious trouble. I refused to NOT have any estrogen in that area...continuous water infections are horrendous and can lead to issues elsewhere in the body...even in the brain (some people with confusion actually have it due to a extreemly bad water infection) so I was placed instead on vagifem 10mg. They are individual applicators...(hygienic) have a rounded top (more comfortable to insert) are thinner and smaller (easier to control and insert) and are a tablet form (tiny and not messy and NO preservative!!)

Ive only used it a couple of times...as I have to do it once onlt a week...but I can tell the difference and Im relieved!!

Was just wondering if any other ladies had this problem with the cream...and just seeing if others are and are reluctant to go find out...that maybe its a good idea to.

Remember...although this works for me...its dependant on individual medical history and requirements.

Just thought it would be good to share.

What is a "water infection"? I don't like the cream myself and it's messy but my insurance covers it and not the Yuvafem, generic for Vagifem. I became allergic to Monistat after using it numerous times over the course of say 12 years or more. That is not something you ever want to become allergic to. Talk about burning, itching unbelievable agony on the inside! You definitely want to be using something vaginally for atrophy though. I wasn't, my OBGYN said nothing and after a silver nitrate treatment for granulation 6 months after my total hysterectomy, I had sexual relations and wound up with a pelvic abscess and a 3 day stay in the hospital. So yeah, you need that area to be nice and supple. I had no idea my vaginal walls had thinned and I was bent at the waist for days with severe pain and cramping. I hope you're not taking oral estrogens after endometrial cancer and that's the reason behind your hysterectomy. Oh and I use vag estrogen twice a week.

Water infection...meaning like more severe cystitis...inability to pass water properly...blood in urine. PAIN in lower abdominal region and feeling ill...hot flushes...sickness...fatigue...disorientation.

I was checked for gradulation and didnt have any thank goodness. My consultant and surgeon was a specialist in this field.

My hysterectomy was not due to endometrial cancer.

Due to my age i am required to take estrogen for muscles etc.
