Baggy clothing... trousers , dresses, pjs...

A pillow to put round u so ur seat belt doest rub belly on way home.

Some peppermint mint oil capsule as it will literally b like a ball of air in ur gut so quicker u can release it the better.

I didnt need much pain meds but i used Cocodamol for 24 hours thats all... Over counter 8/500mg

Make sure u stay regular as constipation is really something u dont want.

So loads of water and fruit

And veg.

Things to do... magazine, netflix, films...

Some dressings so u can change them but do not get them wet so no baths or showers for at least 7 days so the stitches stay dry.

Some wet wipe so u can have a little strip wash.

Thats it really... loads of self tlc...

Take care of urself Dont think oh il b fine soon and go back

To work to quick Or start exercising

Or doin to much...

It is a operation!!

I gave myself 2 Weeks of wallowing and resting and sleeping and then went back to work

Excellent advice. Could I just add slippers for hospital.

All of the above is really good, I also found that ginger snap biscuits helped with the nausea I felt after surgery due to the anaesthetic.

Knew i forgot something 😂

Also mayb some ginger biccies?

I came straight round and had tea and ginger biccies and i was fine...( coz there try give u crappy sandwiches, trying to give me tuna sandwiches after op urgh NOOOO)

Then my husband shoved some peppermint capsules at me and i took them and i didnt suffer with all that wind and bloating gas thing everyone else had.

When u get home sleep!!! I literally slept for 48 hours!!! My husband tried to wake me to give me some painkillers but i was sooo tired...

I didnt really have any pain? Mine was just a lap no work done though. Kinda no worse then a bad period!!

Didn’t have much issue in terms of pain after op. Felt fine, had lunch and dinner then the next day was violently sick so watch out for that - was just the once though if that helps. Air in stomach is crazy and it moves so I had shoulder pain which is related to that so anything that people suggest to alleviate it might be a good thing cuz I didn’t take anything. Otherwise I would just repeat what others have said tbh.

I didn’t prep very well for the first one but I was 10 min from home so fine. Second time I had a 90 minute journey home so prepped really well.

Lip balm - highest priority!!! My lips were so dry from not drinking.

Granny pants that will fit a maxi maxi pad.

Extra pads.

Loose clothing - I had some leggings that are too big with a really thick waist and that is about 4 inches too large and it fit comfortably.

Snacks - nothing too dry but they food they give you is nasty:

Ribena or similar flat but tasty drink - your mouth is going to taste weird and you’ll be super thirsty.

Painkillers but they’ll probably give you better ones.

All great advice, I'll add windeze tablets, fizzy drink hurt but helped me clear the gas pain, and Suppositories - to help with the first bowel movement after surgery. Oh and if close to the hospital a hot water bottle for your back and a pillow on your front for the drive home. Best wishes

Hi I would advise doing something with your hair, to make it more manageable afterwards as you won’t feel like washing or trying to style it. I found i had to where a nighty rather than usual pjs as stomach was so swollen. Having loose clothing to put on to avoid being uncomfortable. Also if you live alone like me get some easy ready meals or soups in as I didn’t feel like cooking. Hope it all go’s well best wishes x

Hey, my essentials were maternity pads, leggings and really baggy t-shirts, lots of pillows as lying flat was really painful and I couldn’t get back up on my own 🙈 and things to do e,g colouring books, word searches etc i had complications in my last surgery so I was bed bound for 4 weeks which towards the end was really boring. Hope your lap goes well xx
