Lap π: Well I got my letter today for the... - Endometriosis UK
Lap π
Hi Lou I know exactly how you feel. Have a look at my post-terried they won't find Endo. I had some very supportive responses. I know the not knowing is so very hard, you think you're going nuts. I am on the other side now, having had my lap June 20th, they diagnosed stage 4 Endo. It's definitely better knowing. I no longer spend hours in bed at night wondering what the hell is causing so much pain and discomfort. You are doing the right thing in having the lap, it's the next part in the process. Either way you will be further on than you are now. Concentrate on being kind to yourself. Let us know how you get on x
Can I ask what symptoms you had and Pain ?? How did they treat you xxx
Im 37 it started two years ago (though my periods have always been awful) with severe back pain that has never gone. As the months went by ovulation pain got worse. Shooting pains in rectum. Left sided hip pain and sciatic pain in my calf and unable to turn over in bed. Severe fatigue. It has been life changing many days I can barely function. No treatment as yet, it was just diagnostic as too severe. Got my follow up in aug. Treatment will involve excision surgery x
I was scared of them not finding anything as been fobbed off for years so it was a relief for me when they did the laparoscopy and found Endometriosis and excised it. It can be scary if when you're new to all this as you're not sure what will happen next etc. Ask lots of questions - write them down and try not to worry.
I had mine 3 weeks today - still in pain but hoping it's short term before it settles
All the best and hope it goes well
I hope you don't mind but can I ask what your process was for getting a lap appointment. E.g. how long did it take? Did your gynae suggest you get one straight away? Etc .
I hope your lap goes okay
X
Hi hun, I've had numerous pains over 4 years, from kidneys, bladder pains back pains leg pains pelvic pains. Heavy periods really heavy vaginal pressure feeling. The first step i took was the coil I had it for 18 months and all my pains stopped..... Everything. Then I had massive side effects which knocked me for 6, I was so poorly, so I had a break for 3 months. Went back to my doctor who has been fantastic, had the mini pill for 3 months bleed for 5 weeks constantly and had 3 weeks feeling great. Now had to stop it. My consultant offered me prostop injections which I refused because he said he would do the lap anyway, so now I'm awaiting the lap day..... Excited in some ways xxxxx
I'm glad to see after all that you are finally getting a lap. I hope my gynae is as helpful as yours. Was yours bsge or just general gynae?
I've had pain like what you've described since I was 11 (I'm 24 now) and been told constantly I'm 'just unlucky' and given contraception
Around 6 months ago I finally got a doc to listen to me and after blood tests and ultrasound are now referring me to a gynae. I've made it crystal clear I'm not going back on contraception!
Oh no Hun so young too π’ I'm 36 π I've had 2 internal scans and 4 pelvic scans and kidney scans too... All came back clear. I am been treated at a bgse centre, you can find them on line if you have a look on lindles posts. She's fantastic xxx hope you get some answers soon.... Just keep pushing and pushing and if your not happy keep going back, if you want anything just message me xx
Gosh so many scans. Endo really is a complete nightmare.
Yes lindle has given me a few bits of advice already, she needs an award! My local hospital is BSGE registered anyway and that's the one I was sent to for my ultrasound so I'm hoping that's where I get sent again!
Thank you that's really lovely of you.
When is your lap?
Xx
Those feeling are totally normal. I actually cried in the recovery when they told me it was endo just because I was so relieved! Sounds weird but knowing what it is and that it isn't just in my head has made it easier to deal with. The pain has a name.
I hope your surgery goes well.
Hey,
I know the feeling exactly at the moment. I'm 23 and awaiting my first laparoscopy date coming through. I'm so anxious and just want the date now!
I found this fantastic book by Susan Evans (Endometriosis and other pelvic pain) which explains the surgery, and how to treat endo etc. But it also explains what else can cause similar pain and why they are mixed up.
In some ways it strengthened the idea that it's probably endo, but it also explains what to do if they don't find anything which is a relief.
Hope you get some answers soon! xx
please make sure that u r actually being treated by the bsge specialist at the hospital. i received treatment at my local hospital which is on the bsge list but didnt realise the bsge centre was actually seperate department to it. hence a lap by general gynae completely missed stage 4 endo. next got referred to the endo specialist centre there and saw the endo dr. had my second lap which confirmed severe stage 4. dont just assume treatment at that hospital is all you need. x
