removed from lap waiting list

hi everyone,

I am so upset as I have been on a waiting list for a lap for over 18 months, finally had my pre op in October and after trying to get through to someone at the hospital for the last few months have finally spoken to the gynae department today who have informed me I have been removed from the list as they tried to call 3 times and sent a letter and didn’t get a response.

I had 1 missed call and voicemail which I tried to call back and there was no answer. I never received a letter - it has been 10 years since I started trying to investigate what’s happening with my pain and I just feel at a total loss as the gynae department have now told me to go back to the GP to start the referral process again.

has anyone else had a similar experience? Sorry for the rambling post, I have been trying to get a diagnosis for so long and I just feel totally lost and fed up with it all.

I’m so sorry to hear this, getting pelvic pain investigated is absolutely impossible enough … without this.

Absolutely make a formal complaint to PALS. Explain what communication you have received and ask them to investigate/provide proof of calls/letters. I would absolutely refuse to be discharged back to the GP, what have they thought everything is magically now fine and lap no longer needed. Channel the anger and don’t let it go, you really do sometimes have to fight them. For everything.

My team have to send a copy of any letters to my GP, which I’m sure is standard practice, might be worth double checking if they have received anything.

Stay strong! Be firm. You got this 🤍

Totally complain to PALS and ask for evidence that they contacted you by letter. I did eventually get my operation but during the wait, I received a letter to say I had turned down 2 earlier dates...yet no-one had offered me earlier dates! I was so upset as I would have bitten their hand-off to have it done earlier. I suspect I was just a pawn in someone managing stats/government targets....fingers crossed for you.

As others have said i would suggest going to PALS. Think that would be your best bet x

gosh this is awful, I just cannot believe how we’re made to suffer!

I’d definitely recommend a letter to your MP, PALS, Healthwatch and the hospital Legal and Complaints team. Send them all the same letter, it’s disgraceful.

I’ve had to contact all the above regarding a complaint about a recent hospital admission and also my old GP practice. Thankfully it worked and action was taken.

Might be another one of the ‘techniques’ to get waiting lists down.

Good luck ❤️

yes I had this happen! I was treated so badly. I was on the wait list a year and then they took me off - so sorry, definitely complain, you can also write to your local MP for support. I actually went privately in the end as it’s so rubbish having to deal with all the stress x

Take it to PALS immediately. Write to your MP or go into their surgery and get them to raise the issue too.
