Hi All I had my lap a few weeks ago had endo removed and also found out I have adeno... I’ve been having pains that seems to be in pelvic/ovary area and was hoping this would of stopped because my endo has been removed has anyone else had this after surgery??

Does anyone else have really painful bowel movement with spasms??

Sorry for the rant just hoped after surgery my symptoms would improve but doesn’t seem the case.

That could be the adeno giving you the pains xx

Yeh I did think this but I can’t really do much about adeno as already on depo injection🙈

That's unfortunate, I hope you can take painkillers with that, let's hope it's the surgery and eases off soon xx

Yes I can take pain relief with it but doesn’t seem to help when I get the pains 🙈 I’m hoping it all settles down soon xx

I'll keep my fingers crossed 🤞 for you, my painkillers don't work fully on the pain just take the edge off sometimes which is a help but when it's bad nothing works at all 😞 hope you feel a little better soon xx

I used to get bowel movement pain, i had a 2nd set of surgery where they found i had endo within the bowel as well. The problem with removing endo at laparoscopy is that during your hormonal cycle more endo sites will continue to develop. It has to be a multi-pronged attack to control the pain. Have you tried TENS machine or heat pads to soothe the pain? It was the only thing i ever found to ease pain. Also have you tried excluding wheat or dairy from your diet? I found wheat aggravated me the most it was tough excluding but i felt the difference within 3 days!

Sorry to hear you had these symptoms it’s not nice is it... yeh when my consultant discussed how the op went he said he looked at my bowel and all seemed ok but I get these sharp pains before opening and after and spasms that can make me cry they are that bad 🙈 yes I have a tens machine and heat pads and hot water bottle also tried to cut things out my diet and makes no difference unfortunately x

Hey... your problems sound very similar to mine. I had surgery two weeks ago now and endo was removed, Adenomyosis diagnosed and was also diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis (which I suspected). I also have fibromyalgia which was diagnosed in February.

Sorry you’re still in pain, I suspect it is the Adeno. Did they give you a plan going forward? And do you have a follow up appointment?

I have the same issues with bowels - painful bowel movements, spasms, diarrhoea and urgency to go. But I am always told this is just IBS and nothing wrong with my bowels so who knows. Have you thought about looking into the endo diet to see if this helps? A gastroenterologist gave me mebeverine previously, but this didn’t help but perhaps it will help you. You can buy this over the counter.

Hope everything gets easier for you soon xx

Thanks for your comment it’s nice to know it’s not just me but hope your ok at the moment?

Yeh I think it’s the adeno as endo has all gone for now my consultant wants to see me in a few weeks to discuss everything but he did say to me after my op stay on the depo if it suits you as had coil before and it didn’t suit me and now I know why my uterus is soft and can’t tolerate it he said...yeh with the bowel issues it’s not been investigated but he did say you haven’t got ibs as you can get fobbed off with that I’ve tried all sorts of diets to try and help over the years and nothing think I will have to wait to see him and go from there x

I have been off of work since Christmas now except for a few days here and there and a little bit of working from home at the start, everything has just become too much. I know what you mean, it’s comforting to know you aren’t the only one going through things like this even though you wouldn’t wish these issues on your worst enemy!

That’s interesting that the gynae said you don’t have IBS... what does he suspect is going on with your bowels then? Have you ever had a colonoscopy? It may be worth asking your GP for one, though I believe gynae can refer for that too x

Oh gosh that’s not good I’ve been off for a month and climbing the walls I can’t wait to get back to normality but some days I’m really bad 🙈

Yes I will ask him when I have my follow up appointment about it as I don’t have a clue what’s going on if it’s adeno related xx

Oh bless you, really hoping you feel better soon, fingers crossed.

Hope your gynaecologist will be able to give you some answers x

This sounds so familiar. I had my laparoscopy 6 weeks ago where endometriosis was diagnosed and removed, and ovarian drilling for pcos. I am still having awful pain, worse than before my lap some days, especially when using the toilet (urine or bowel movements I get pains in my pelvis). I have a follow up appointment in 2 weeks where I will mention all of this, I wasn't given any kind of handover over than "surgery went well, rest up" so hopefully I can find out if this is normal :/

Sorry to hear you’ve had these symptoms aswell let’s hope when we have our follow up appointments we can find out more and just take some pain relief when needed x

I get really sharp pains in what feels like my ovaries too. My surgery was end of Feb and I had my left ovary unstuck from my pelvic wall (weirdly it's the right I get more pain in) and some endo removed from my bladder. I was told from by TVUS that I had adeno but this wasn't mentioned after the surgery. I put the pain down to incision pain but would love an answer too!

Sorry to hear you’ve been suffering also it’s not nice and yes I get pains mainly on my right but sometimes on my left the only thing I can think of is the adeno as all the endo has gone 🤷‍♀️ xx

Who performed excision surgery on you? I have painful spasms and diarrhea at times with endo. Adeno might be causing those issues, but bowel issues are more related to bowel endo. What did your endo specialist say?

Lou93 profile image
Lou93 in reply toStefaniaJW

He was an endo specialist and I didn’t get to speak with him for long just mentioned endo removed and also seen adeno as I’ve got a soft uterus we will speak properly when I have my follow up appointment.

It takes atleast 6 weeks to be fully recovered!! Try your best to rest and recover and see how you’re feeling at your post op appt with your surgeon :)

Thank you I’m back at work tomorrow so will see how I cope when back to normal life and wait for my follow up ☺️☺️

Peebles2sarah profile image
Peebles2sarah in reply toLou93

That’s good!! Yeah my doctor told me last time that the reason they book the post op so long after is because it takes so long to heal even if you feel pretty good! Anything after 8 weeks though is likely remaining endo or something like that :) good luck tomorrow!!

Yeh I’m just hoping it all sorts it’s self out either way ☺️ thank you can’t wait to go back in a way xx

Hi your situation is almost identical to mine. My gynaecologist suggested mefenamic acid for my bowel pain. I was doubtful because when I was on it previously it did nothing for my endo cramps. But my bowel pain is sharp and painful and is a different pain from my cramps. Mefenamic acid was a game changer for me! Still does nothing for period cramps but completely stopped my bowel pain! I've gone from horrendous bowel pain to none! Hope this info might help you x

I have had this surgery in november last year and have had pain ever since, with it intensifying in the last few weeks. I have had the painful bowel movements but only on my period.

I am exactly the same with endo and adeno, but my question is has anyone ever missed a period because of it. there is no chance of me being pregnant (I have done a test anyway which wads negative)

Lou93 profile image
Lou93 in reply tobonnieclyde97

Thanks for your comment interesting to know your the same as me then with it all see I’m on the depo and don’t have periods at the moment and have no way of knowing when my cycle is but when I’m not on anything my periods are horrendous and never regular I could miss a month or two then have three in a month and I don’t know if this was endo related or adeno but my consultant said for me to stay on the depo injection as for now it’s great not having the extra periods on top are you on anything? X
