Hi, I had stage 3 endometriosis surgery just over 4 months ago. Endo was removed from bowel, bladder, ovaries etc.
Prior to my surgery I used to get cystitis only after intercourse which would go away after a course of antibiotics. However, since my surgery I keep on getting cystitis(mostly constantly burning and stinging down there). Urine culture keep on coming back negative and despite taking the antibiotics the symptoms doesn't go away.
Maybe for few days I feel better than it start again and last an entire week or so.
I have not been sexually active after my surgery and I don't eat anything spicy, citric, caffeine or fizzy drinks.
Also, I have been taking dianogest for the past 3 months.
Has anyone else suffered from this after their surgery? Do you think this could be due to bladder being involved in surgery or a side effect of dianogest?
I would appreciate any information or advise on this please.
Thank you

I am experiencing the same am also 4 months post op! Was seen by a urologist and the put me on Gemtesa and referred me to pelvic floor therapy. Told me that it was my endo and that my pelvis had trauma from the surgery. I have UTI symptoms, negative tests, and bladder spasms but the urologist swears that pelvic floor therapy is going to resolve all of this. I’ve actually been really down about that visit as they didn’t even do an exam, just diagnosed based off of others doctors notes? Sorry if that didn’t answer much for you, but here to say you’re not alone. You can inbox me as well, as I feel like it might brighten both of our spirits that we are going through similar things! This group has helped me sooo much!
Sometimes the uretha is damaged during surgery. This happened to my sister and to a close frined who had excision, it can cause these sorts of problems. Call your surgeon and tell him/her what has happened or e mail his secretary. If he /she is a pro they will send you for an ultrsound to check your kidneys and uretha. It could be they have been damaged in the op or that endo has grown on them. It is the surgeons job to investigate why this has got worse since the op. Good luck.
Hello and yes I had similar after my open surgery. Never before. Though since a few years later that type of effected started again but related to Lactose, gluten intolerance which people with Endo can anyway. Not that I know your cause. Mine was at the time after that Op was to do with physical/ mental stress of what my body/mind had gone though and my ability to deal with Endo. A my tests at the doctors came back negative.
Endo isn't a easy disease to cope with.
Don't worry, drink plenty of water only, no tea, coffee or anything else liquid, take sugar out, take Mult-Biotic tablets from Healthfood Shop to balance your inside might help the bladder and burning.
Thank you for replying to my post. So after your surgery did the symptoms go away by itself? How long did you have to suffer from it? Did anything helped i.e. over the counter meds or supplement?
The only thing the doctor said was I might be sensitive to the pessary that was placed in the vagina to do with the Operation. Stopped Tea, Coffee etc as I said. I took the salt stuff from Chemist, drank 3 litres of water a day. Since then I wear only cotton knickers. I stopped using shower gel in that area. I use Pears medicated. Wipe that area during day with Huggies Non- perfumed in blue pack as I am very sensitive. I do get Hayfever, some makeup I can't do either.
It could even be your soap powder or fabric softener, perhaps one for newborns?
Stress and sugar don't help either.
Unfortunately once you're sensitive even when it appears to get better it's still mending.
