Missed diagnosed 🤔

Hi lovelies,

I'm not sure were to start but is it possible for Endo to missed?

I had a laparoscopy in June 2017 and they said no Endo was found but I did have a cysts on my left ovary. This was drained. Although I did have an internal scan in Jan 2018, the nurse asked about my symptoms and she told me my ovaries are very sticky and I found the internal scan so painful I asked her to stop.

I also had the Minerva coil fitted to help with pain and to hopefully stop my periods ( my periods were all over and caused me to collapse and bleed very heavily).

Now I'm still suffering with constant pain, pain during and after sex, bloating - pain in my lower back. I have a little spotting but no bleeding.

I've been back to my GP twice and a nurse within 4 months. The first time he gave me pain killers, told me that the lap is the only thing that can say yes or no - and that the nurse doing the scan may not have been skilled enough. I ignore his response but agreed to try these soon killers. Amitriptyline. I took one before bed, and by day two I struggled to function so stopped.

I decided to see the nurse, who read my history and said really I need to speak with my GP. Although did agree that further investigation is needed. To help with my bloating and to rule out constipation, I had a mild laxative for a week.

I saw my GP last Friday, I just cried all the way home. He told me all my symptoms have been investigated - end of. He believe all my pain is down to IBS. IBS!!! 😡

Has anyone got any advice ?? Or had a similar experience and how did you deal with it.

PS I'm currently off work today because I'm unable walk properly and the pain is so much I was sick this morning.

Thank you, sorry for the long reply.

Don’t apologise you haven’t done anything wrong!

Have you thought about going to see a different GP if that’s possible for a 2nd opinion. I saw 3 different GPs which pelvic issues before being in hospital and seeing 16 different doctors. Still then I was called an enigma. It wasn’t until I left hospital I was referred to a general surgeon who then looked at my symptoms and issues and then referred me to a gynaecologist who specialised in Endometriosis, polycyclic ovary syndrome and fibroids. If seeing another GP try referring yourself if that is possible. On all the the NHS websites they list their specialists depending where your nearest hospital is.

I have recently been diagnosed through an MRI scan so a laparoscopy isn’t the only option however I’m awaiting a laparoscopy as Endometriosis and Cysts were found on the scan.

I had/have very similar symptoms to you painful sex, irregular bleeding, spotting, painful bowel movements and bloating.

Hope you get some answers xx

Thank you, I have contacted another GP and I have also written a letter to my current GP - with the above and have asked for more investigations to be done. It's having an impact on my personal life, relationships and my mental health. I'm also 26, and hoping to start a family.

I hope everything goes well for you, seems like you have gone through a lot too.

Xxx

I hope you get some answers and the treatment you deserve. I’m so sorry it’s had such an impact for you. I understand, I’m 17 and missed half a year of school so I’m having to go back and redo my first year of sixth form in September. My first Laparoscopy is tomorrow! Extremely nervous! Xx
