I am in desperate need of advice or someone who’s had a similar situation.
I’m not going to go into the history but I have been diagnosed with stage 4 endometriosis. Recently (29th April) had a coil inserted and had the worst excruciating pain ever since.
After going back and forth to the doctors I’ve had examinations/scans and they have said that the coil isn’t in there any more and has travelled into my womb!
They’ve now said I’m going to need emergency surgery to remove it although my GP isn’t too sure on the next steps.
Has anyone else had this or similar and what’s happened?
Thank you! xo

Yeah your coil is put into your womb(uterus) so I hope it’s still there! Maybe the threads, which should hang out through the cervix have gone up in also? If I was you I would really want clarification on this and try to get some information for yourself about checking threads etc. If it has left the uterus it’s either been expelled through the cervix and vagina or punctured the uterus to get out 🤷🏼♀️
The strings are definitely not there and it’s not showing up on a scan.. tbh the scan was done at the local sexual health clinic and they were more focused on testing me for STI’s (which all came back negative). My GP has said they have referred me for an urgent appointment with gynae as it was them who inserted it under GA! I just find it all very confusing as to where it’s actually gone 🙈
Hi...Mine went missing too! Had it put in under GA and for the entire 4 years it didn't work. But on removal my GP and the gynae couldn't find it. Had it removed under GA when I had a 2nd lap and it was the strings that had moved upwards so couldn't see them from a "normal" view. I had spoke to my gynae about it and from what I remember it's very rare for the coil itself to move although possible, so might just be the strings that they can't see.
I am in the same situation just now and also have stage 4 which my consultant keeps referring to as "horrendous" 😕and will be having a hysterectomy later this year once I pluck up the courage.
My coil is also lost with the strings not visible and I've to go in for a hysteroscopy to have it removed as it's out of date now.
I had my coil put in at the hospital as too painful for my go to do, I hated it was painful and made periods worse after x10 months I went in for a lapost to check on my endo and fibroids and said they will take the coil out. When I came round from operation was told yes the threads were there but coil must of come loose and connected to my lining of womb and muscles grown round it😢😫 I knew it wasn’t right from x4-5 months, but the threads were there so no one believed it was gone etc. I’m going in for hysterectomy on Monday and removal of pouch of Douglas so coil will come out then!!! Ask them to explain more to you, yes you are right it can be common but still not great if it happens as all I heard was give it time etc xx good luck
So I’ve contacted my doctor this morning to clarify what had happened and she has said it’s in the lining of my womb! They are currently arranging surgery to have it removed so hopefully it’ll be okay! Thank you for sharing you stories with me it’s made me feel better. xo
