When will I feel better

So on Thursday 21st March I had a diagnostic laparoscopy in which the surgeon found adhesions on my right ovary, tube and bowl. He removed these adhesions but I'm still waiting to hear anything else. He also took biopsies and fitted the merina coil. When fitting the coil he said the hole on my cervix was tiny so he struggled but did it.

I have 2 massive bruises on my right side, and 3 incision scars. I am still dizzy, light headed and exhausted. I'm still bleeding vaginally and have been passing clots daily. The bleeding gets worse if I do more walking or lift something heavy. I keep getting very sharp pains on my right pelvic area. I also get internal pain when having a wee and when opening my bowels.

I go back to work tomorrow and am dreading it. I thought I'd feel better by now.

How long did it take you to feel better?

I went back to work 14 days after op and I found out it was too soon.

It took me 2 more weeks to feel strong enough to last 8hrs at work x

Oh really? I can't afford any more time off. I work 9 hours a day. Working 50 hours this week

Just take it easy . Everyone recovers differently. You might be just fine . One thing that really helps once you are back at work - the distraction

Take good care of yourself xx

Hi,

I had a laparoscopy 6 weeks ago and I am starting back at work tomorrow! I didn’t expect to be off that long at all and I am still experiencing pains now after doing things such as lifting. Doctor said it’s normal and it can take a while to get back to normal.

I had the dizziness and felt sick for a couple of weeks. Just need to take it easy make sure you rest when you need to and don’t do too much.

I felt very sleepy for 2 weeks also.

I hope your feeling better soon and wishing you a speedy recovery x

Hi,

I took 2 weeks off work then worked part time from home on week 3 and only went back to work full time last week and even though I have an office job so was sat at a desk most of the day I still found it really exhausting so just take it easy as the others have said.

It took a bit over 2 weeks for my bruises so disappear but even now (just over 4 weeks after op) my stomach under my belly button still feels a bit bruised inside when I touch it as I guess my insides are still trying to heal up so I would advise not lifting anything heavy if you can avoid it as you need to let your body rest in order for it to heal up quicker as lifting heavy things will be straining what is trying to heal. I was the same as you and did not expect to still be recovering at this point but it can take around 6 weeks even for the stitches to dissolve so be kind to yourself for another few weeks if you can!

Good luck with the recovery x

Usually they say up to 6 weeks, although you had a laparoscopy and not open surgery just means the outside heals quicker, the work they do inside is no different. I would see how you feel in another couple of weeks before going back to work x

It maybe advisable to speak to your doctor about your symptoms, it doesn’t sound like you are wel enough to return to work.

I hope you feel better soon

Ive already been back to see them. Doc said he can't really say anything because he doesn't have what they did on system

It may be too soon for the notes to appear on the system but if the doctor has eyes he should see how poorly you still are. Did you get a fit to work note to begin with? They should be able to extend it.

I suggest calling the endometriosis UK helpline for advice. Clearly you’re not well enough to go back to work, don’t force yourself. It took me 3 weeks to recover then 3 weeks part time before I felt myself again.

It took me about 2 weeks to feel well enough to go out and get back to school. About a month to be feel fully back to normal though I would say (maybe longer).

Well I've been here since 8. I keep getting sharp pains in my sides and I'm exhausted. On the plus side I did eat mu lunch which I've not been really wanting since I had op.
