Hello, that really does sound awful. I'm sorry that I really have nothing helpful to say here in terms of personal experience that could be useful, and I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time with it all. Just remember that you have managed to get a new referral to gynaecology, so people are prepared to investigate your symptoms despite clear results, and you are entitled to that.
I'm not sure if you could ask for another scan if it has been a while since your last one as it is less invasive than a laparoscopy but might indicate other causes of your pain. You might also benefit from different hormone treatment? I was on a pill for 4 years that caused me no pain or period whatsoever and then one day I bled for 5 weeks with excruciating pain. Then I was given a new pill for 8 months during which I didn't bleed and then suddenly bled for 11 weeks. In the words of my gynaecologist, my hormones kept needing 'resetting' as if they'd begun to reject hormones after a certain period of time. It might be a bit of trial and error which isn't very nice but when there are other potential options to manage your pain and bleeding it is worth taking when you reach such an unbearable point. If you are on a combined pill with which you usually take a break, perhaps consider taking these back-to-back without a break for 3 months before switching to a new pill? Or if you're not on a combined pill already, ask to switch to the combined pill and if the pain is no better and periods no lighter then consider taking them back-to-back? Other than this I would ask about prescription pain relief if you feel you require something stronger than simple painkillers.
Best of luck at your appointment - I'm sorry if I've said nothing that you haven't already thought of or tried, but hopefully someone who has been through a similar experience has a better idea of what path to go down after a clear laparoscopy but worsening symptoms.
Thank you so much do your response, you’ve eased my mind massively.
Sadly, I’m on the progestrogen only pill because i have migraines, so I can’t go on anything else because there’s a risk of stroke☹️
I think I may have the same problem as you, this pill worked for a good five/six months and now it seems as thought it has stopped working.
I saw my GP last week to get referred again and he read the letter he got from my previous gynae (the one who did the lap) and it said “partially detached uterus” which they never told me. I still don’t know what that means.
It’s been suggested that it may be adenomyosis as this might not show up on a lap.
Thank you again for replying, you’ce been extremely helpful and reassuring x
Oh that is such a shame! Maybe the coil might be something to consider then? I've never heard of that uterus condition, but with that and adenomyosis yet to rule out (great point - hadn't thought of that!) it sounds like you have options to explore yet and investigations haven't run dry for you, and that is so important to know for your mindset. Hope you get some answers soon x
Hi I have adenomyosis which was diagnosed via internal ultrasound still waiting on endo diagnosis though, I heard about the horrendous stories on the marina coil and got talked into trying anyway it aggravated my adenomyosis and has made it worse I had to have it taken out after a month x
They should see adenomyosis on a internal ultrasound or MRI it doesn't show up on a lap I don't think adenomyosis also has the same symptoms as endometriosis except it's just in the womb you can however get the both together I'm just waiting on a gyne appointment to see if I can have a hysterectomy and look for endometriosis, I'd ask your GP to send you for internal scan that's how mine was diagnosed xx
Oh that's great stick to your guns I'm going to take a leaf out of your book and ask for a lap to check for endo when I go in May good luck to you, let me know how you get on 😀 x
