I’m almost 42 weeks pregnant (actually off to get induced today) and have suffered escalating endometriosis symptoms since I was 10 years old (I am now almost 40).
I had quite a bit of pain early on in my pregancy and bouts of bleeding at 6-8 weeks and 12-14 weeks as well as a few other complications. My endometriosis-type pain tailed off at the beginning of the 2nd trimester, but came back during the third trimester as my oestrogen levels started rising again and the growth of my bump stretched adhesions/scar tissue.
However, every woman and every pregancy is different so try not to worry too much as your pain might resolve soon and not reappear at all during the remainder. Just make sure your GP and midwives know you have endometriosis and are carefully monitoring and helping you manage your pain levels.
Best of luck, I hope you start getting a bit of relief from the pain soon. x X x
First of all congratulations on getting pregnant with this nasty illness 😃. I had horrible symptoms including exteme sickness from about 2 weeks preg! I went to the dr and got anything i could take to help as i couldnt get out of bed. It tailed off at 4 months, with just the occasional episode but nothing like in the beginning. I found myself having baths every day which really helped soothe everything and made me feel much better x
Thanks a lot for your encouraging answer And congrats on your pregnancy too! Could you tell if you felt better from the 4th month on than before the pregnancy? And after the pregnancy have your symptoms came back the same as before or worse or better?
Thanks a lot, experinces from a fellow sufferer is the most precious for me (honestly more than doctors answer )
My symptoms never really went away but they were managable as in same as normal run down feeling but only random pain now and again. First 4 months obviously there is the whole preg hormones making you ill and the random endo crap so its a double whammy! I did feel much better at 4 months, just normal really but took antisickness all the way through. I still felt the same after i gave birth, so mine has just got worse over the last 4 years. We are trying for number 2 for over a year now, so my advice is after you give birth go on contraception to keep it at bay if you want another one, i didnt and so its just got worse and had to have a lap done in november. I am gluten and dairy free, and omg the going gluten free has pretty much eliminated the pain! If you are getting lots of pain now then cutting right down on gluten and eating fresh will make a big difference, and make sure you are taking some good quality supliments to help with the tiredness. Doing both will benefit both you and the baby, and you may be lucky and your symptoms subside. They do for lots of women so you never know x
Thanks again for your helpful answer! God luck with conceiving again with next baby, hope you will succeed soon. I do the diet too, I think everybody should with endo (or maybe without endo too )
Congrats on getting pregnant. My beautiful girl is nearly 8 now but my pregnancy was tough I must admit. I had a lot of pain at the beginning which slowly and changed. The consultant said the pain was probably the endo being stretched on the ligaments around my womb. I also had nasty morning sickness to the end.
Please don’t worry each pregnancy is different and your body will react in its own way. If your anxious speak to early pregnancy unit at your local hospital they were so lovely & reassuring for me.
Thanks a lot for your answer and kind words Congrats on your pregnancy and girl too! If you don't mind me asking, when had your pain lessend? Was the second half of your pregnancy less painful than the time before pregnancy, and how did the pain come back after giving birth, stronger or weeker?
Sorry for the lots of questions, I appreciate your answer A LOT!
I think second trimester was the easiest and 3rd was sporadic as everything grew bigger. I did have a c-section though due to lots of problems & my surgeon was a registrar in gynaecology so removed obvious endo and also my large endometrioma. My pain was significantly better and I went on the pill straight away so things didn’t really kick off again until I started trying for a baby 2 years later.
My pain was more spread from pre ovulation and until a few days post period. Must admit now I’m 8 years down the line and I’ve tried majority of medications and currently Now on zoladex and waiting for a full hysterectomy.
