Hello First post on this site, I have a lap booked on the 19th February at 330pm how long after the procedure do they send you home, just trying to organise if I will be staying over night. This is based on everything being simple and straightforward. I understand if they find endo they may do some treatment and will most likely be kept in

thank you for your time

Hi, I would always say and this is from personal experience and working on a surgical ward. I’d take bag for an overnight stay just in case as they like to make sure you are ok from the anaesthetic and the surgery so they’ll usually monitor you for a few hours. Hope this helps☺️x

I’m the same I have a lap coming up and because I see people going in to operations all the time and I’ve had three myself I didn’t think I could be scared but being scared and anxious is all natural. You will be fine and if you need anything feel free to contact me and I will try help! I’ve got my fingers crossed that you will get some answers ☺️

Hi I was an afternoon surgery and it was agreed beforehand that I would be in for 1 night. Can you ask your GP? Also pack a bag incase x

that's great thank you I might give the office a call to see if I can get a clear answer my mum doesn't live close to me so we are trying to work out whether she should get a hotel near the hospital or not

I only had a investigative lap, they usually tell u if they will do something, mine had no intention of actually doin any surgery so i knew it would b in and out.

I was in hosp for about 4 hours thats including, signing in, stats, nurses getting u ready, seeing the consultant and having the lap, once back i was given tea and biscuits and went home after about a hour. Lap was 45 mins from leaving ward to goin back.

Most surgeons do a investigative one first to see what there dealing with aless urs already knows? Mri or had another lap before this one.

no they have no idea I had my admission forms today it says if they do find anything she said she will treat what they can but wont do anything major till they've spoken to me so I suppose I wont know until its all over

Just to b on safe side i think i would take a bag with enough essentials for 2 days ...

They dont let u stay in to long so aless it something major i would think u would b out by then.

I had a 3.30 lap and had to stay in overnight. I didnt come round untill nearly 6 pm and because of the pain relief given i stayed untill the next morning.

Thanks for this, I'm quite sensitive to meds etc so I'm not convinced I will be coming out for a few hours xx

I took an overnight bag just incase and good job i did. You are in quite a lot of pain when you first come around so they give you lots of pain releif and i had to have anti sickness too as i threw up in recovery. I was pretty out if it so they kept me in. I was fine the next day, just a bit sore, went home as soon as they did the rounds. I had nausea for a few days after but hardly any pain at all. Best of luck xx

The bit I'm most worried about is being put under, sounds silly but it frightens me not having any control I don't sleep well anyway so to be put to sleep doesn't make sense in my head and to wake up knowing time has passed without you knowing just baffles me but I can't carry on the way I am so ill put my big girl pants on and get on with it and pack a overnight bag while I'm at it! Thanks for your reply xx

Lol, i was exactly the same, i was really scared and got worked up over it as i was at hospital since 10.30 waiting. By the time they come and got me i just wanted it over with. It is a really horrible feeling to not be in control or remember or what if u come round before its all over ect... but you literally just wake up and have no knoweledge of any of it. I kept trying to focus on that time the next day when it would all be over with and that helped. Is it a diagnostic lap you are having?xx

Yeah she said they will treat little bits if she sees anything but if it's bad she will wait to speak to me so I don't wake up with half an Ovary missing 🤣(jokes). So. I don't really know what state I'm going to be in when she's finished. My gut says somethings wrong but I keep. Doubting myself I'm making it up all now iv booked the lap. So many doctors have turned me away or tests have come back fine that iv never known a solid answer xx

Exactly the same as me. My gynae consultant was fab, she found endo in the pouch of douglas and ligaments, and also flushed my tubes which were slower than they should be because of it. They lasered it as it was mild, still had extreme symptoms though, i was expecting it to be a lot worse! So worth it to have it written down in black and white so you cant be fobbed off anymore. Im working on getting things moving in there again now its gone and keeping it at bay. Dont doubt yourself, if you have all the symptoms you probably do have it and its the only way to know for sure xx
