I'm not writing for a response necessarily but just to get my frustrations out because I'm always going on about it friends & family and it's probably not fair on them.
I have had period pain and general pelvic pain and lower back pain for 19 days now & I'm just getting so so fed up. Heat does help but it doesn't take it away and painkillers don't seem to help either and I don't want to be constantly taking them anyway. The pain I would say is moderate, so it's not necessarily stopping me from doing anything at the moment but it's wiping me out. I have the doctors tonight to ask to be referred to a gynaecologist. Although I have struggled for a few years it has never been for this length of time & my period is no where in sight yet. I just don't know why my uterus hates me and it's need for being so aggressive 😫
I don't even know of it is endo yet but it looks likely to be atm.

I have endo and was in horrendous pain a lot and back and forth to the drs and a and e who would give me high doses of morphine which is the only thing that worked. I changed my diet and cut out dairy, gluten and refined sugar. Upped my vitamin intake and take high doses of magnesium and maca. Im pain free now apart from the odd twinge or annoying ache, nothing bad though and nothing to stop me getting on with my day. If it is endo there will be a lot of inflamation in there and diet really agrevates it if you eat things that cause further inflamation, gluten is the worst! Its not a quick fix but a longterm and lasting one. Took me about 6 weeks of gluten withdrawel cramps, but now when my period comes apart from the fatigue im absolutely fine.
Asking to ger referred to a gynaecologist is not enough, I'm afraid. If you don't go to a specialised endo gynaecologist, that "ordinary" gynaecologist won't likely be able to diagnose endometriosis. So go to a real expert.
Also, pelvic pain accompanied with lower back pain can also be the sign of an infection.
If you have had unprotected intercourse at some point in your life I suggest you have a vaginal swab done at your next doctor's appointment + a pap smear (if you haven't done one yet or more than three years have passed since the last and you are sexually active) on top of the other things the doctor will perform.
P.S.: Anyway don't say your uterus hates you. It is not the uterus' fault at all. These are hormones + unbalanced immune sytem that are backstabbing you.
Your lady parts have nothing to do with it other than suffering themselves due to the adhesions, cysts and more.
I hope you can get answers very soon and get taken care of by a great professional!!
Just wanted to say I really understand your frustration. I had three weeks before Christmas of constant pelvic pain, feeling like my period was about to start and day after day after day it didn't - it's mentally, emotionally and physically exhausting, and hard to explain to friends and family what it feels like.
I have Lyme as well as endo, and am beginning to think that symptoms like this that I originally assumed were endo are in fact Lyme. So in the sense that Lyme is an infection StefaniaJW may be on to something there. I absolutely understand the frustration with your body though - it's hard not to feel that it has something against you!
I hope you get an end to this particular bout soon.
I completely sympathise with what you're going through. It is completely debilitating and frustrating to be in such pain and feel like there's nothing you can do to stop it.
I do agree that for your referral you should ask for an endo specialist. Whichever hospital you're being referred to will say online if it's a BSGE centre. Also once your referral is through you can if the consultant you're under is a specialist and if not get yourself to a hospital that has one or more. General gynae surgeons cannot detect endo so it is important you're with someone who knows what they're looking for from the off.
I unfortunately take a lot of strong pain killers as I couldn't cope without them. I'm hoping after my next lap I'll be able to wean myself off, so if you need them now try not to worry too much as hopefully after a diagnosis and some form of treatment you won't need them anymore, we all have to do what we can to get by.
Keep us posted with how you get on and best of luck xxx
