How long did it take you to feel better and able to do your usual activities & go back to work?

Having a laparoscopy, hysteroscopy & biopsy.

Hope you all had a good Christmas šŸŽ„

X

Hey!

I had a laparoscopy in October and it took me about two weeks to feel fully ok to go back to work. Any sooner wouldnā€™t have been a good idea.

Hope it all goes well!x

It depends what they do. I've not had a hysteroscopy. Are you having any excision/ablation done as well? I know recovery varies from person to person so don't compare yourself with the youtubers who chat away happily a few days after surgery in full make up lol! From my experience a diagnostic lap (I laugh at this as mine diagnosed NOTHING)- 2 weeks. Laparoscopy with excision and mirena -I'm probably going back to work after 8 wks (technically 6 wks sick plus a few weeks holiday). I would not count that as full recovery though I'm still struggling with pain and lack of energy. Your insides take about 3 months to heal. I think the more they do the longer you need to recover. All the best with your opp! :)

Hi,

I had a laparoscopy on 11th of this month and a laparotomy to remove a lump from inside my C-section scar. Iā€™ve not had a hysteroscopy so canā€™t comment on that, sorry.

But from what I had done, oddly I felt great after about five days, most of the gas and anaesthetic had cleared or worn off. Think maybe I over did it helping the kids and general tidying etc when I felt ok for 2 days, Cut down on pain relief. But now Iā€™m so sore and incredibly bloated or swollen. Feeling large and slow and useless. Iā€™m getting pains from healing and usual hip and back pain. Some symptoms canā€™t tell whatā€™s what.

But I guess itā€™s early days..

Iā€™m being signed off work for another 2 weeks.. day 5 Iā€™d even considered going back before two weeks.

A colleague had a hysteroscopy, no other procedure, returned to work after 2-3 days but had to take more time off as took longer to get over than she thought.

Sheā€™s in the office mostly, Iā€™m out driving caring for clients.

Healing is so different for everyone, depends on what they do, how you heal, any complications, your lifestyle, job...

when youā€™re healing, donā€™t compare it with other peopleā€™s. Be gentle with yourself. Iā€™m so bored and fed up of not being able to do every day stuff, itā€™s tedious and Iā€™m in pain and fed up ā˜¹ļøšŸ˜ but Iā€™ve got to allow myself to heal properly.

Hope everything comes through and you get it over with, get answers and get well.

Wishing you speedy procedure dates and a speedier recovery x

I had my lap on Monday, today is Sunday and I went to a family party. If its an office type job youā€™d be fine after a week off to sit properly etc. I was told I canā€™t go back to the gym for about 6 weeks.
