Hello there my name is Karen and last month I had a laparoscopy. The drs found that I not only had Endometriosis but I also have Polycystic Ovarian syndrome too. I am looking for some help and support please. It’s my first period post op and I’m in such agony. I’m miserable and was wondering if anyone had any tips on pain management? I am using my Tenns machine and taking very strong painkillers, as well as using heat pads. I’m still really sore though. I don’t mean to complain but does it get better? Thank you all so much for reading x

Advice and Tips for Post op pain.
Hi Karen, not good to see you are in so much pain. Do you have really strong painkillers such as Codeine or Tramadol? That’s what I take when in extreme pain. I don’t know how much pain is “normal” after a lap as not had one but I hope it passes soon for you x

I have tramadol and naproxen but they help only a little. Thank you she’s my child Sorcha Cat x
My first 2 periods after my lap were horrific worse than before, heavier, lots of clots and more painful( from what I’ve heard it’s normal). You have to remember although your external wounds may have healed, you are still healing internally. I only have one period every 3 months now by taking my pills back to back and this has helped, I still have bad days symptom wise and Endo flare ups but I don’t suffer horrible periods every month anymore.
Hang in there and give yourself some time and maybe discuss a future plan with your gynaecologist about easing pain and symptoms. I am having an ablation next year to hopefully stop my periods completely as I don’t want a hysterectomy yet (although I know there’s no cure for Endo) but it would be nice to just not suffer horrible period pain at all on top of all the other endometriosis symptoms.
Big hugs xx
