Changing diet to help
Well I have cut out all caffeine drinks and I am try slimming world to see if it help's xx
I've been doing slimming world for a year now, lost about 4 stone (the plans great when you stick to it) and I really really enjoy it, the group support is amazing...but, it didn't help my endo one single bit. What it has done was give me confidence, I feel better about myself. I had the confidence to stroll into my doctors and straight up ask and demand things. Like, being able to get over some of the food and control issues I have has helped me in the long run. Slimming world didn’t help my physical symptoms but its certainly helped me as a person.
Just was wondering have you had a word with the slimming world consultant that you have endo cos I told her and she said lots of protein plus she said stop having diary too. Xx
When I joined we thought I had PCOS so we went for a low GI based diet, then with what we think we have now I've had to learn what my body doesn't like. I can't use bread or oats or crackers etc as my healthy B choice because I bloat like mental. However, I would really encourage you to use your fully healthy A dairy choice in some form, it's there because you need calcium in the diet to allow weight loss otherwise you start catabolising muscle and bone as you can easily become deficient without diary in your diet. I use mine for cheese on top of recipes and stuff. I avoid quark which is used in a lot of slimming world recipes because it upsets my stomach and digestive system but that’s just me. The beauty of slimming world is it is so customisable and there’s so many options you can find what fits you, took me about 3 months on plan to really figure out what my body hated and what I was okay with, I think everyone is their own case study but it gave me a safe place to deal with issues, I realised I was comfort eating to deal with the stress my endo caused and helped me get out of some very bad habits.
Hi, diet and stress play a big part in endo..there are lots of sites giving food advice. I have ibd due to endo on bowel. Cut out on dairy, red meat, processed foods, fizzy drinks, caffeine and stress. It does help
Id live to hear what sacrifices actually work.
Ive read, just last week about Fodmap diet ie foods low on the Fodmap.

Its not too bad.
Caffeine and endo, there are mixed thoughts on wether to elininate.
I try to stick to 2 cups of coffee a day. Both morning.
Red meat will be hard for me. I love streak and lean minced beef.
I would like some success stories.
Are the sacrifices eorth it?
Kind Regards
Helly.
Hi, I followed low fodmap diet about 5 weeks before i got diagnosed with endo as my dietician thought it would help my ibs symptoms. It does help with some of my symptoms as I seem to spend less time in the bathroom now (before over half hour straining - sorry tmi! now ten mins in the evening).
I still follow it and if i do have the odd day off from it i do feel it badly- had beef stir fry while out last weekend and I did feel very uncomfortable after it from the beef, garlic, onions (high fodmap). Im not overweight but i did lose 9lbs in a few weeks on it. Speak to your GP and see if they will refer you to a dietician as I only had one appointment with mine and she discussed the best route for me to take and provided me with a lot of information on it.
I have cut out dairy and caffeine and it has made a huge difference to my symptoms. I have endo on the bowel too and it has cut my toilet time (during menstrual cycle) from half an hour down to 5/10 mins. I have also started limiting gluten but find it was too hard to eliminate completely! Hope this helps xx
Definitely worth the sacrifices! Your symptoms should improve a lot if you cut out the trigger foods: dairy, red meat, soya, sugar, alcohol, caffeine, white foods: bread, rice and pasta. Switch to wholemeal. See how you go it’s worth a try. No two people will have the same results but endo ladies really suffer with these foods due to the inflammation they cause in the body. Good luck xx
