Contraceptive pill to stop period

Hi

I currently have an endometrioma - I've been told I need surgery but in the interim (I'm struggling to get through to my consultant) I'm keen to stop my periods as I'm already in quite a lot of discomfort and have a rather bloated stomach. After a previous surgery for the same thing I took Loestrin for a while. This stopped my periods. I was just going to resume this. However, having done some research online it appears that this, being the combined pill, contains oestrogen and this apparently causes endo to grow. This leaves me perplexed - why would endo sufferers be prescribed this? Sure i should therefore go to my gp and request a progesterone only pill in that case? Can anyone advise?

Thanks

I have adenomyosis so can't relate to the endo part, I actually never knew that😟 I was bleeding all of the time and like you was in a lot of discomfort, I got prescribed a contraception pill but it didn't stop me from bleeding everyday so they put me on microgynon 30 and it completely stopped my periods, I took it back to back for 3 months and then stopped so I could have a weeks period. I wasn't allowed a period each month because when I did I was in absolute agony and would end up in hosp! If you're periods are the same I suggest you ask if you can take it for 3 months straight like I did 😊 but yeah it's probably best talking to your doc about which pill is better for your condition x

Hiya, i currently take microgynon which is a combined pill, and I take that back to back for 3 months then have a week break, that means I should only get about 4 periods a year. I’m endo diagnosed and after speaking to my specialist, we both decided to continue with the pill until I decided I wanted further surgery. I don’t know about other people but I feel it has helped me, i also had cysts on my ovaries and it has helped to break those down x
