I would personally prefer to be knocked out as any investigations down below are too painful for me x

I would personally prefer to stay awake I find the anesthetic hard to get over though. Would be a fairly long operation? I wish you a swift recovery

I stayed awake , it was uncomfortable but bearable , only took about 20 minutes if that . Make sure you have ibrupofen before though.

I was under general anaesthetic for mine as they did it with my lap, doc said he'd prefer it that way as it means they can have a look in more detail, and it isn't uncomfortable. That hysteroscopy only takes about 10 mins when completely under. You'll have a bed to recover and they suggest someone take you home.

I think that with the local anaesthetic it's classed as an outpatients appt, will be done quickly, however you're expected to just get up and go afterwards on your own. It'll take a little longer as they'll need to get you in position etc, and will only do what you're able to cope with. I don't think I'd want to have it done this way, it sounds too scary!

I guess it all depends on how you feel you'd be during and after. General anasethetic is quick to come round from now - about 30 mins, but it takes about 2 days to get out of your system, so you'll be signed off for a few days. With local anaesthetic I'm not sure if you get the next day off, or even that day so if you're in pain you'll have to call in sick.

If you're not sure then general anaesthetic is the best otherwise with local / gas and air they'll stop when you say so and will need to re-book it in again if they've not seen what they want / taken biopsies.

hope that helps in some way xx
