Desperately seeking some help as I live abroad and don't have a doctor I can go to yet without a translator which gets confusing!
I took a pregnancy test yesterday after a 5 day late period and it was positive then 4 more tests (I panicked) said negative and now I don't know what to do. Do I just ignore the positive? I read that sometimes ovarian cysts can cause false positives and I had surgery two months ago to remove an ovarian cyst...
If anyone has any advice I'd really appreciate it - I don't know whether to just ignore it and move on or go to the doctor? I have all the period symptoms but still don't have it today...
Thank you!!

Uually it's suggested to repeat the test a few days later (3 to 5 days).
The quality of the tests do make a difference in terms of the levels of hormones they pick up - so check online for reviews. If you're not sure and don't want to go to your GP yet, ask your pharmacist if you can have a chat about tests and what to do next; they may have a range of tests they can suggest that could be more accurate / detect early.
It's usually only suggested to go to your GP if you're most recent test is positive, and usually they wait until 6 weeks after your last known period (2 weeks after your expected period), they'll do a urine test initially and then send a blood test off. Some GPs will do things differently, and some women go before the 6 weeks.
Yes false positives can happen too, re-test and if it's negative - and you're worried about the cysts perhaps book a GP apt but maybe in a few weeks just to check everything's okay; to be honest it'll probably be your specialist you'll need to go back and see.
Remember stress can delay your period, so if you worry, it may be late, just relax a little and see how things go over the next few days, not easy I know.
Thank you! That is helpful! It's so hard trying to be patient in these situations but I will try and if my period doesn't appear I'll take another test and see from there about getting in touch with the GP.
