I was just wondering what other people's experiences of bleeding and pain after childbirth were?
I gave birth just over 8 weeks ago and am still suffering with quite heavy bleeding and severe pains, and am wondering if this is quite common amongst those who suffer from endometriosis.
This is my second baby, and I remember after my first I bled for around 10 weeks, and then got my period at 12 weeks and was immediately back to my usual cycle of 2-week-long heavy, painful periods that come every 28 days like clockwork. This is in spite of breastfeeding exclusively. At the time I hadn't yet been diagnosed with endometriosis.
This time I conceived around 6 weeks after having a laparoscopy to have the endo removed, and I naively hoped that pregnancy so soon after surgery would mean that the endo wouldn't have had a chance to grow back, things would have had time to heal internally, and I might have some relief from these debilitating symptoms for a while.
I'm feeling rather downtrodden at the thought that things are potentially going to be as bad as ever from here on out, and I'm not sure whether to seek medical help or not as in the past I have had a dreadful time persuading any doctors to take any notice of my symptoms. In the end, after the GP repeatedly refused to refer me, I had to see a gynaecologist privately and fork out a huge amount of money for my surgery. I can't afford to keep seeing a private consultant, but feel like going to the GP will be a waste of time.
