I'm due to get my period in the next few days, and as usual the cramps are setting in. Last night, I experienced a recurring stabbing pain in my lower left abdomen. It felt so intense that if it was on my other side, I might have suspected apendicitis. My fiance was very close to calling an ambulance.
Due to the other pains I have been experiencing in my pelvic region, I am assuming it is related, but it is a new one for me. My suspected endometriosis (I'm on the long journey to diagnosis) has been getting worse over the last few months.
I was just wondering if anyone had experienced a similarly sharp pain, especially right before their period? Would be really grateful for anyone who can share their experience.
I am waiting a call back from the doctor.

hi sweetie how's u doing? sorry to hear that ur suffering 🙁 I was diagnosed with endometriosis in 2005 and I have 3 different types of pain, a deep low cramping, a contraction type pain (spasms) and sharp stabbing / tearing pain. I seem to have the low down cramps all the time but the other two come and go especially around ovulation and my period 😒 I did get really sharp unbearable pain on my left side and I did call an ambulance after a scan I was told I had a 5cm cyst on my left Ovary and another smaller one on my right. it may be worth seeing how u go but if you get that bad again then please call the ambulance🙂 hope you feel better soon xxx if you eva fancy a chat plz pm me xxxx
Ah thank you that's so nice of you. I'm sorry you have so much pain too. Can I ask, did they say what caused that sharp pain? Was it just the existence of the cyst, or had it ruptured or anything like that? I'm still waiting for the doctor to call me back, and I'm due to be booked in for an ultrasound of all the reproductive bits + the bowel - although the wait seems endless. It's so unsettling not knowing what is going on inside me, and knowing that diagnosis can only come with a laparoscopy, which sounds frightening to me. xxx
thank you hun, the existence of the cyst I think? but the pain was lower and sharper than my usual sharp pain 😂 listening to my body's patterns has been a life saver tbh, makes it easy to spot when something has changed. I wish there was a less invasive way to diagnose it 😂 I can play dot to dot with my scars 😂 🤣 it's normal to feel unsure when u have neva experienced it, so don't worry I bet every one having surgery feels like that the first time 😊 hopefully u will get ur appointment through soon xxx
Thank you, that's really helpful to know. Absolutely, learning to listen to my body's signals! It sounds like you have a good sense of humour about it, which I think is probably going to be very important! Yes, I've never had any kind of surgery so that makes me nervous. Kind of hoping something shows up on the ultrasound that explains the pain! xxx
Morning I have endometriosis of the bowel and the pain is the same as the other lady. But a few years ago I had cysts on my ovaries that reptured and the pain was very sharp and intense they did think that was my appendix but once I got in to theatre it was my reptured cyst. Please get this checked out as this can be serious if not treated. Better to be safe. Take care.
Thanks for sharing, I wonder if it could be a ruptured cyst, although that very sharp pain seems to have gone now. It sounds like it is worth getting checked out though, so thanks for the advice! 🙏
They haven’t said anything what’s causing the pain I had to demand a laparoscopy cause the consultant wanted to try me on prostap injections just to see if they worked I said I would only have them if they booked a laparoscopy for me I’m passed trying medication I need a diagnosis and if I’m gonna be like this all the time I need a hysterectomy
Thanks for the reply yeah I’ve got them 3 types of pain and I’ve also got a pain in my back end that makes me have to lie round most of the time cause I can’t sit down for it and it’s so intense it makes me feel sick and weak xxx
Hi There, sorry to hear you are suffering. Before I was diagnosed with endo I sufferers with an acute, crippling pain during my period. It was so bad, I’d vomit and it also caused the runs (sorry TMI!) After a few awful months and a very painful internal exam at the dogs they suggested a polyp and I go to the hospital to have it removed. I was supposed to have that done under local anaesthetic but when they attempted that the nurse said it was far too big and I’d need to have a general. Once that was removed, that particular pain stopped. It was a horrendous pain. I’d recommend a docs visit to try and see if you have something going on that they can fix. It still took me a few years to get an endo diagnosis (it was actually suspected apendecitis that forced the issue). Good luck!
Thanks for sharing your experience (and never TMI - it's reassuring to hear about other people's symptoms, and they never are pretty are they?) I'm sorry you have been through that horrendous experience, it sounds so painful. Definitely sounds like I need a trip to the doctor.
I haven’t had a period for over a year since I started taking cerazette I’ve stopped taking it for 5 months and still haven’t had one my GP doesn’t know if this pill has caused my illness
