Hi,

I am just get my info in place to write up my complaint letter. Does anyone know how to find out if a dr is BSGE registered. I know my consultant's specialist interest is cancer but I want to check if he is BSGE registred or has endo as a specialist interest (as per NICE guidelines). Is there any way I can find this out?

Thanks

Hey

I’m not sure about Scotland but this is the link to the registered centre and the doctors bsge.org.uk/centre/

bsge.org.uk/centre/

Will tell you centres and then each consultant listed by centre. Scroll down as sometimes it looks like nothing there.

thanks!

Do you know, if they're not working within that team, does that mean they are not BSGE registered?

I think so; the team members are listed down to the nurses.

The bsge has said it is going to move to accrediting individuals rather than centres but im not sure of the timeframe, their january letter usually sets out their plans and centre performance stats.

I had my surgery with the local bsge centre surgeon in a private hopsital (via employer insurance) and i checked his individual experience (number of comparablly severe cases to mine and their outcomes) and that he was operating to the same bsge standards primarily having a bowel or bladder surgeon present depending on the surgery needed.

Hope this helps
